Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilón has been linked with an exit from the club this summer.
The 27-year-old was on loan at Manchester United and Brentford last season and he is not a key part of the London club’s plans going forward. He needs to leave the club to play regularly and a report from Spanish publication SPORT claims that Barcelona would be willing to provide him with an exit route.
Barcelona are looking to bring in more quality and depth in the full-back areas and manager Hansi Flick has already approved a move for the 27-year-old Spaniard.
Reguilon has previously proven his quality in La Liga and he is certainly good enough for Barcelona if he can re-capture his form and confidence. The transfer to the Premier League has not worked out for the player and a return to his homeland might allow him to regain his sharpness once again.
Furthermore, he is in the final year of his contract with Tottenham and Barcelona believe that he could be available for a nominal price. The report states that Barcelona are plotting a ‘last-minute surprise’ move for the defender and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with Tottenham.
The North London outfit are well stocked in the left back department and they are likely to sanction his departure for the right price. It would not only free up their wage bill, but it would also bring in funds for further signings. Spurs will look to improve their squad and push for a place in the Champions League next season.
