Euro giants linked with surprise move for Tottenham attacker

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil joined Spanish club Sevilla on a loan deal towards the end of the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old has struggled for regular game time at the London club and he will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football at his former club now.

Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli remains an admirer of the talented young Spanish winger and he was keen on signing Gil on a loan deal.

According to the latest reports (h/t SportWitness), Spanish club Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation now.

Apparently, Barcelona have been following the player for a while now and it will be interesting to see if they make a move to sign in permanently at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to impress for Sevilla during the second half of the campaign and it remains to be seen whether he can convince Barcelona to sign him permanently.

It Is evident that a return to the Premier League will not benefit the player in any way and therefore a permanent exit from Tottenham would be ideal for him.

The 21-year-old’s talent is beyond doubt but he is clearly not suited to Premier League football and a return to Spain would be ideal for him.

Gil is still quite young and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player with coaching and game time.

The opportunity to join Barcelona could be an attractive proposition for the youngster but it remains to be seen whether Xavi Hernandez is prepared to provide him with the necessary first-team assurances.

The 21-year-old has been starved of game time at Tottenham and he will not want to sit on the bench at a top club next season.
