ENIC’s Utterly Fraudulent Tenure Is Surely Over, Isn’t It?

By The Boy -

Being beaten by Manchester City today was undoubtedly an undisguised blessing and as I type this Spurs players have been utterly humiliated further today, by having to walk past a bucket of iced energy drinks in order to pick up their LOSER MEDALS.

Forget Mourinho, forget Pochettino, forget Villa-Boas, forget all the managers that failed to function under ENIC’s representative on Planet Earth. This investment company is NOT SET UP TO SUCCEED on the green stuff.

So enjoy your stadium debt, and the false sense of grandeur it brought – but count me out – please don’t bother me with fundamentally fake arguments that suggest Levy or ENIC are forces for good in the Tottingham world. They clearly ARE NOT.

Today was yet another 90-odd minutes of utter irrelevance in the scheme of continued failure. The sheer fact that the result of today’s game was so inevitable must strike a chord with even the most ardent loons that believe we’re going the right way under ENIC?

How many more chances does this bizarre tenure actually get?

What will it take for fans of an investment company to realize that I have always been right, and they have always been wrong?!

ENIC’s value was made clear when they sacked GG just before the FAC semi to appease those fans who hated him and appointed the guileless. useless Hoddle. The gooners who were certain that they would lose with GG in charge were now cheering from the rooftops. No on liked GG but his teams frightened people but winning didn’t matter to ENIC and never has.

Exactly. Moaning achieves nothing.. Excessive moaning, repeating the same things over and over, on the same blog, to the same people, it becomes tedious and embarrassing.. I’m no fan of Enic, but coming on here to shout Enic out, and to whinge and whine to fellow fans for years would achieve nothing.. We are football fans, not kids who need to be educated, not moany old women..

Nailed it. If we’ve had any manager that deserved backing it was him.

Also, if the reports are true that Levy insisted that Jose must not rest players ahead of the final then This confirms why Poch prioritised the league position over cups. He was acting on orders, if you don’t comply you’re out the door, clearly.

These morons that say Poch didn’t win any cups fail to understand the way the club is run. Who’d want to be a top manager these days? Apart from the salary it’s a thankless task, no more thankless than under Levy…

Levy is always portrayed as this business genius who has turned an initial 40million loan as it transpired into a £2billion investment.
Shrewd he may be but the real reason the clubs value has rocketed is due to the eye watering increases in broadcast revenue both domestic and international over the last twenty years and in particular the last ten years. I doubt even Doris Stokes could have foreseen that.
As such half the premier league now appear in Deloitte top 30 clubs rich list

I do find it strange that considering how he has short changed the supporter base over his term of his tenure while enriching himself at our expense Levy has avoided the abuse shown to the owners or CEOs of West Ham, Man Utd and Newcastle.
The perception in the media and often from rival fans always appears to me that Levy has the club interests at his heart and how lucky we are to have him as a ‘custodian of the club’as he calls it
I have to say when I read all that stuff in the media ‘celebrating’ his twenty years at the helm I nearly puked.

In otherwords, we recovered in a few seasons after 1977, winning the FA Cup in successive years in 1981 and 1982, but it’s taken us about 20 years under ENIC to be not sufficiently recovered to win some trophies, apart from one solitary league cup diminished in stature. Admittedly, there are some very wealthy rivals around now but, as pointed out, some much smaller clubs have managed to win trophies.

Yes, this myth that we were a nothing club before ENIC. We weren’t good, that’s for sure, 1992-1999, but we weren’t relegated or anything like that. We were relegated in 1977 and by the end of 1984, just seven years later, we had won another two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup, and when these trophies had real standing, too. By comparison, Enic in two decades have managed to win for us one diminished league cup and land us in a billion pounds of debt! And yet to some naive folk, they are our saviours – one poor unfortunate on the radio recently said he now had TWO heroes: Harry Kane and ….Daniel Levy! Dear God!

This reminds me of Bruno, a Benfica fan with a bar in Obidos, a few years ago telling me they were just waiting for the Porto chairman (a dubious character with a lot of money) to pop his clogs and then the natural order would be resumed and Benfica would return to being the top club.

80/81. F.A cup winners, finished 10th. 81/82, F.A cup winners, finished 4th, Cup winners Cup Semi finalists. League cup finalists. 82/83 finished 4th. 83/84 UEFA cup winners, finished 8th. 84/85, finished 3rd. 85/86, finished 10th. 86/87 finished 3rd, F.A Cup finalists. 87/88, finished 13th. 88/89 finished 6th. 89/90, finished 3rd. 90/91, F.A cup winners, finished 10th.
In the financial and injury ridden 92-99 period we reached 4 semi finals of domestic cups and won the League cup.

Levy/ENIC tenure has brought 1 League cup and 6 semi finals. With 6 top 4 finishes.
Astonishingly there’s only been 1 more top 4 finish in ENICs tenure to the previous 20 years.
There’s no comparison. No progress. Just spin, myth and PR.

Keep your events and NFL, keep your “world class training facilities” that every top flight club has anyway, I want my club back, a club that won, dared and DID on occasion, more than on occasion. It’s all there in black and white. Forza Vicenza. ENIC you murdered THFC.

I am now disengaging with this club under its present ownership. 20 years of deceit and falsehoods by an investment company with a proven track record of asset stripping previous clubs.20 years without any investment in this football business. A generational debt legacy with a new stadium that was never built for THFC but as a multiplex NFL arena and part of the new ESL. There will be no change in the downward trajectory of the football business until ENIC and Levy have departed. I can only hope that the financial pain they are feeling and will continue to feel plus the loss of support of those “legacy” fans will cause Uncle Joe to pull the plug finally and hopefully wash the little emperor down the hole at the same time.

One trophy in 20 years of ENIC control. One.

It’s shambolic, pathetic and should be beyond embarrassing to them, but they have no absolutely sense of shame in this regard.

20 years of under-investment in the playing squad and the lack of any sort of coherent vision when it comes to the footballing side of this… well, I hesitate to say ‘football club’.

Because it ISN’T a football club. Not anymore. It’s an investment, merchandising and property vehicle. I’m not naive enough to think football isn’t about money these days, but other clubs with a fraction of our resources still manage to have a far greater grasp of the sporting side.

Putting aside the Community Shield, there are four (or even five of you drop out of the CL into the Europa League) trophies to play for. So since ENIC took over, one of these supposed ‘Big Six’ clubs – the one that I am ‘blessed’ to support – has a roughly 1% success rate. Since ‘Big Club’ Spurs last won a major trophy, trophies have been won by such giants of the English game as Swansea City, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth.

”Oh, but look at the stadium and training ground!” I hear the ENIC apologists cry. Absolutely. They’re amazing. But Levy & Lewis have placed the club into biblical levels of debt to finance a new stadium at a time when, even if fans were allowed to attend matches, Premier League clubs are now (most seasons) able to sustain profitability without gate receipts due to global TV and streaming companies hurling money at the EPL like a billionaire in a brothel.

The stadium, as impressive as it is, is effectively a gilded cage for a dead cockerel. A shiny, velvet-lined box full of disappointment. Congratulations, Daniel & Joe. You’ve proven generations wrong, and shown that you CAN polish a turd.

We want a trophy, but all we get from ENIC is atrophy.

No I don’t think that getting a new manager changes anything in itself hence the reference to the revolving door of management at THFC. Sorry, but if you think that a new manager will change anything without investment in players you’re falling for Levy’s sleight of hand.

Whenever Levy’s in trouble he sacks the manager, hangs other people out to dry.

They clearly didn’t expect to still be in possession of a controlling share to me. If trey did expect to be then how did they expect all this to go down with the fans?

Perhaps they (ENIC) can be embarrassed into leaving or selling up with huge profit? It sounds feeble but after the last few days at least some of the spotlight has been taken off the poor performances of players (and some of them have been truly woeful) or the less than convincing souls that enter the revolving doors of THFC Management. The ESL debacle tells you all you need to know about ENIC. But as others have suggested-who in their right mind would want to take this on? Possible crunch will come with the choice of next manager. Get this next move wrong and our best players will want out and that’s when we will have a real crisis

Halabil
Halabil

I would love to see ENIC out but can’t see a way for the fans to boot them out. If the reports about Lewis finding an investor willing to pay 800 mill quid for 50% ownership (only for Levy to sabotage the deal by refusing to give up Chairman’s role, i.e. control) are to be believed, the 85-year old Lewis is clearly looking to monetize his stake and walk away. This may put Lewis and Levy at odds going forward and a fractured ENIC (given that Levy owns 29% of ENIC) could be the only way for them to potentially part ways with Spurs. Frankly, only a deep pocketed Billionaire and/or investment group will have the ability to pay the going price for the club and assume the debts/liabilities arising from the stadium build and the pandemic, and it is hard to see who would step up at this stage in the game, especially after the ESL debacle and the mushroom cloud that hangs over the seditionist “Big 6” clubs. Let’s see what happens and hopefully the combination of fan outrage, economic malaise and motivated seller in Lewis will finally replace ENIC with a forward-thinking owner willing to invest in the club and the team. Let us pray.

I understand that Football Insider’s recent comments that Joe Lewis nearly concluded a sale of 50% of the club last year and that Levy refused to stand down as CEO which screwed the deal is true. I am also led to believe that the club is up for sale and that Lewis has instructed agents to find a buyer without Levy being involved. I think there is some truth in this but it is scant consolation .I am 67 years old and have been a fan since 1962 and I am only able to console myself that we did not get thrashed today. Congratulations to HH and many others on this site who have been campaigning against Levy and Enic for many years. Even as a relative newcomer to this site, I can only hope and pray that Enic and Levy sell up. Almost anybody else is preferable. The thought that Levy and his spawn will continue to run the club for many years to come will be the end of me.
