ENGLAND ARE THIRD-FAVOURITES WITH LADBROKES to win the 2022World Cup in Qatar.
Despite losing out in Sunday night’s Euro 2020 final, the bookies have Gareth Southgate’s side priced as 7/1 shots to go all the way next year, making them more likely than 10/1 shots and reigning European Championship winners, Italy.
Brazil are 11/2 favourites in the betting ahead of France (6/1), with Argentina, Germany and Spain all priced the same as Italy at 10/1.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told The Boy: “It wasn’t to be this time, but the early odds suggest next year may well be England’s, with Gareth Southgate’s men heading to Qatar as third-favourites to win the World Cup.”

Your comments pretty much mirror what I have written elsewhere on this blog today. You will never win a tournament if you go out to not lose.It was so like watching Spurs as we sat gradularly deeper as the game wore on after taking an early lead.
There has to be more adventure in our play and we can get that by building around the young attacking players at our disposal.
Painful to lose any final but England are improving and will get better with Foden and Bellingham and others to feature more.
Southgate to me is a very conservative coach and tried to win the tournament in the style of a German team based on a very strong defence.
I just think Southgate wasn’t brave enough and didn’t make enough use of all the attacking talent.
Add in a creative midfielder unleash the young attacking talent and England could make the final step next year.
Yet they give it to a teenager and 2 Utd players who have barely had a kick? Makes sense to me if Utd win the title.
It’s worryig that Southgate chose the one match that really mattered to make the most istakes in his reading of the game.As I understand he has his contract extended with the FA so no change there.
Grealish has said this morning that he wanted to take a penalty…
I wouldn’t be surprised if Qatar doesn’t even happen. If it’s ok then it’ll be Argentina to get Messi his World cup. Brazil or them.
Nope. When you step back and look at it forensically, it’s all bizarre. Cos nothing is as it seems.
There’s so much to unpick from it all. Can a manager be so incompetent that he takes an experienced winner off (Henderson – who was a sub himself) just 3 or 4 minutes before the end of the 120 mins and therefore can’t take a penalty and consequently has a 19 year-old take the 5th penalty?! It doesn’t add up at all.
Watching Southgate on the sidelines this Euros I was asking myself, are they really going to make a folk hero out of this fella? Put him with Alf Ramsay? He looked like a little pond fowl standing there, out of place , a yes man, an establishment pawn. Well, they had England as the losers again. That’s how it’ll stay. I said final at least, at least it is then.
After 2 minutes they’re ahead…then proceed to have not one shot on target?? Perculiar to say the least, he subbed a sub again to avoid taking Sterling off, who was diabolical….like most of the matches, only difference he didn’t get a tap in to distract people. Never in football history have I known a No.10 and supposed star turn not take a pen in a shootout….seen em miss, Platini, Baggio, but never not take one. All the youngsters took one, so sympathy would prevail. Now all we’re left with is the obligatory anonymous racial abuse online in the absence of any real word racism. Again, not football fans, just twonks or fake account provacataurs. Of course it would end like this. Full circle.
Bring em up to smash em down. Winter on way…
Exactly. Italy were the superior side and deserved it. England won’t win the WC next year, no chance. We still don’t produce the necessary players to win these tournaments.
Still 18 months to go and the cycle of delusion begins again.
