“Don’t think he has a future” – Spurs ready to sell player who ‘Conte really liked’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ryan Sessegnon’s time at the club appears to be drawing to a close, with journalist Dan Kilpatrick suggesting that a summer departure is imminent.

Once hailed as a promising prospect for Spurs, Sessegnon’s career has been marred by a string of injuries, preventing him from reaching his full potential on the pitch.

He has been out of action for nearly 11 months since February last year.

He picked up a hamstring injury during training in pre-season and underwent a subsequent surgery which kept him out till January. He made his return against Burnley and played the last 10 minutes of the game but picked up a knock which kept him out for a few more games.

However, the midfielder made another return a couple of weeks ago for the Tottenham U21 side against West Ham. Unfortunately, he only managed 37 minutes on the pitch before succumbing to another hamstring injury.

With the club confirming that Sessegnon will be sidelined for an additional three months following successful surgery, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the season, speculation has arisen regarding his future at Spurs.

Rumors suggest that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may opt to sell Sessegnon in the summer transfer window and seek a suitable replacement for the injury-prone wing-back, potentially ending his tenure at the club.

Journalist Dan Kilpatrick addressed Sessegnon’s situation on The Tottenham Way Podcast, indicating that the player is likely to be sold where he can seek a fresh start elsewhere.

He said:

“I think Sessegnon should go and probably will go. He, as much as anyone, would benefit from a fresh start. There was a lot of interest in him in the summer, and Conte really liked him. I hope he can get fit again, but I don’t think he has a future at Spurs.”

As Sessegnon’s injury woes persist, Tottenham Hotspur prepares to part ways with the talented left-back, paving the way for a potential new chapter in his career.
