Do you trust Nuno Santo’s decision making? Certainly not this ex-Spurs star

Tottenham has struggled with creativity this season, and when things don’t go well in a match, it is common sense for managers to make changes as soon as possible.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo has shown a lack of awareness and has not made the changes required until very late on in some games.

Despite falling behind to West Ham after the 70th-minute mark at the weekend, Nuno waited until 6 minutes before the end of the game to make his first substitutions of the game, bringing on Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil.

That decision didn’t impress former Tottenham number one, Paul Robinson, even though the manager said as reported by Football London that he didn’t regret the timing of his substitutions.

“You have to question his decision,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“The second half was going terribly. They hadn’t had a shot.

“Why leave it to six minutes until the end to bring two creative players on and then wait a further seven minutes to bring Bergwijn on. Spurs were chasing the game. It just shows naivety to me.

“There was no reason why he shouldn’t have changed it a lot earlier. It made no sense to me.”

The Boy Hotspur says

Spurs didn’t have a shot on target in that second half and a proactive manager would have brought his creative players off the bench to improve their chances of causing West Ham problems.

Nuno instead kept his struggling players on the pitch and if he truly felt the game was still under control, why did he eventually make the changes late on?

With every match, the Portuguese boss is giving Spurs fans the chance to ask for his sacking.

Decisions like this clearly show that he doesn’t have what it takes to lead the club and it will eventually cost him his job unless he learns to adapt to changing fortunes on the pitch.
