I fear mid-table mediocrity. Conte’s presence is papering over some almighty cracks…

I hate saying this but Arsenal are in better shape than us. Their young players are a lot better than ours. They have pace all over the field which we lack.

Of our three most important players Lloris, Son are all the wrong side of thirty and Kane joins them next July. Dier, Davies, Doherty, Moura are no spring chickens either.

If there aren’t major changes to this squad starting in January I fear for the future of Spurs.

Bentancur cost 17m, PEH 15m and Bissouma 27m. They cost peanuts in terms
of the present transfer market, all three of them cost 59m. Last time I heard, the going rate for a good quality central midfielder was well over 50m a pop, we think we can have three for just over that? Complete joke…

They’re all cheap options, you won’t win anything with cheap options.

You’re spot on. Every fan needs to understand that our first team/squad isn’t good enough. Defense and midfield is mediocre while our front 3 are elite. We’re not winning anything at this rate.

With proper scouting and recruitment our first team would look completely different. A top team get their player without much fuss. Had the chance to sign Bastoni, Skriniar or Bremer and got Lenglet on loan. Would’ve gotten Milinkovic-Savic or Neves with a big offer, but no, of course we got our fifth DM from Brighton where their 20 year old ready-made replacement is superior

I’ve been watching Aurier against Liverpool this afternoon and he has highlighted just how poor Royal and Doherty are in comparison. And Forest got him on a free.We really are in poor shape.

Sadly it is a dream that we bring in players of that calibre.

Absolutely a tough game, but I think we’ll nick it in the end. Unconvincing 1-0 score.

Guimaraes is definitely one of the best midfielders in the league. Imagine if we had him and Neves in the middle of the park

Also, we need to get our heads around the concept of Richarlison being Kane’s replacement, because that’s what he is…

Bentancur, PEH, Skipp and Bissouma are substandard, sometimes someone has to say it like it is.

One of these three, as a holding player alongside a couple of other players in midfield/wingback, with the prerequisite levels of quality in their game would be fine. Together, along with the likes of Royal and Sessingnon out wide, they’re a midfield of mid-table scrappers.

Lets face it, that’s the level;
Bentancur was close to joining Villa, PEH came from Saints and Bissouma from Brighton (who are doing fine without him). Skipp looked outstanding, in The Championship for Norwich.

Bentancur and Bissouma will not be part of anything significant at Spurs. Skipp and PEH are low cost soldiers that can do that job. Meanwhile, what do we do with the loaned out Wobblybelly, LoCelso and Winks and the lightweight Gil?

Surely Royal and Sessingnon will never make the grade, Dier isn’t a top quality central defender, Lloris is getting on. We are actually a bit of a mess and it’s only Conte being this force of nature that’s helping to paper over the cracks…

Levyland.

First up we have the barcodes tomorrow.I caught the highlights if their 1-0 win over Everton on MOTD yesterday and the score flattered Everton. The stats show Newcastle dominated and the high press they employed pinned their opponents back for long periods.
I think they will use the same tactics against us and we will struggle. This will be a tough game against a side that Eddie Howe has transformed and he’s getting the best out of players like Joelinton and Almiron, who until this season have struggled to adapt to the PL.And Guimaraes is just the type of player we need and should have bought.

Every time I’m disappointed with our style of play I remind myself of that Everton game. We’re dull, but a realistic perspective is important. We’re currently the 6th best team in the league, both on paper and performance. Anything above that should be deemed a success given our mediocre squad. Facing L’pool soon and we’re underdogs, no doubt about it

Remember when Jose played expansive football at Everton in the FA Cup? Lost that one 5-4, against one of the worst sides in the division.

We don’t have the personnel to play that style. Not enough quality in possession. Can’t stop passing to the opposition.

Well the Sporting quote of the year has to go to Antonio Conte when he gave this piece of advice to Rodrigo Bentancur who was giving the ball away with his every touch.

Pass the ball you f#cking d*ckhead.

That to me is world class coaching.

It’s interesting that both Conte and Jose set up similar in style and it’s maybe because this lot would get murdered playingbexpansive football. Most of team look like they have a got a hot potato in front of them when the ball is at their feet.

Too true, forget 343 ,352, whatever, we’re not good enough. We don’t have enough top class players. We don’t have a bench worth the name.

We’re not winning anything with this team. Conte is actually overachieving with this group.

On and on it goes and where it stops no one knows.
