Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the fitness of his Spurs squad ahead of this weekend’s trip to Crystal Palace, including the status of Djed Spence.

Postecoglou fielded a rotated side for Thursday night’s Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar but still managed to deliver a 1-0 win to maintain the Lilywhites’ perfect start in the competition.

Youngsters Mikey Moore, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray all impressed, while the likes of Richarlison and Wilson Odobert received valuable minutes as they work up match fitness.

Bergvall limped out of the game in the 73rd minute but Postecoglou has revealed he and his teammates have all come through the continental encounter unscathed.

“Last night all good, no issues but obviously a bit of fatigue with some of the boys as they haven’t played for a while but all good,” the Australian told reporters on Friday.

Spurs captain Son Heung-min made a scoring return to action in the 4-1 win over West Ham last weekend, lasting 70 minutes having not played since the victory against Qarabag in late September.

However, the South Korea international was said to be suffering some discomfort after the London derby triumph and wasn’t risked against AZ.

Unfortunately, Postecoglou has all but ruled Son out for this weekend’s trip to Selhurst Park as well.

“Sonny is still not right or feeling 100%,” said Postecoglou. “He won’t train today and so unlikely for the weekend and we’ll see how he is beyond that.”

Another Spurs star absent against AZ was Djed Spence, who hasn’t featured since coming on at half-time in the 3-0 win away at Manchester United on September 29th.

But Postecoglou has revealed the full-back is making good progress and should be back in training soon.

He said (via Football.London): “Getting closer so we’re hoping next week join back in training.”
