Despite fresh interest Tottenham still lead the race for striker

Calciomercato.it claims that Fiorentina is battling Tottenham for the signature of Arkadiusz Milik.

The Polish striker is set to leave Napoli this summer and he almost joined AS Roma last week.

The deal fell through and that has opened the door for him to join another team.

Spurs have now become an option for him again as the Lilywhites continues to struggle to find a new attacker for Jose Mourinho.

The report claims that although Fiorentina has intensified their efforts to land him, Spurs are still leading the race for his signature.

The Lilywhites had a meeting with his representatives last week, and it is reported that the meeting was “positive”.

They presented him with the technical plan of how he will be a part of the club’s first team, even though he will be behind Harry Kane in the pecking order.

It adds that further negotiations are possible but they will be complicated and other suitors shouldn’t be ruled out.

He had agreed a deal worth 5m euros net per season with Roma and Fiorentina whose top earner is on around 4m euros net might struggle to get the striker ahead of Spurs, but it is still a very open situation.
