Dele Alli Was Genuinely Sensational Against Real Madrid In 2017, so what’s happened to him?|video

By The Boy -

Apologists for Dele Alli are frequently thick on the ground, but this clip of the now 24-year-old’s involvement against Real Madrid in the Champions League back in 2017 made me wonder what version of Dele Alli have we actually been watching in recent seasons?

Pochettino getting it right for once helped a lot.

With a passing accuracy of 94%, this was a performance that Dele Alli has never quite lived up to.

Dele Alli’s xG against Real Madrid was .67%, his current average is has deteriorated to .23%.

Sure, there have been injuries, but there have also been a tonne of distractions.

Perhaps we should put up missing posters in N17?

There’s no ‘perhaps’ about it.

Levy will call you shortly with an offer of tuppence a week and a maverick bar if you score.

Unfortunately Dele’s ego needs massaging on a regular basis or he sends his brother in his place.

There’s nobody else challenging for his spot.

I honestly believe he thinks he is a major league player. Someone should take him and show him Ryan giggs collection of medals (the actual medals not the women) and explain to him that is what a major league player achieves when he tries.

He’s a player I would sell in a heartbeat if I received a reasonable bid. I have no idea as to his current transfer value but the days when he was worth north of £100 mill are long gone, never to return. I don’t like players who tackle the way he does, in a sly , late and often off the ball manner. FFS, if you been dispossessed, chase back and tackle like a man, not like a spoilt, petulant child. When I read that he had flown his hairdresser, or his barber, to the South of France, I nearly puked. He’s a spoilt ., wannabe gangsta, hard man, forget him, you don’t want players like that in your team.

It is clear that no attacking strategy is being worked on at spurs compared to other clubs. Spurs players have no idea what to do on the break, how to open up a set defence (now CE is gone) or how to find HK in space. There just seems to be blind hope Dele, Son, Lucas, Lo Celso, Bergwyn will improvise something on the hoof or that Aurier can find an accurate cross. The contrast in attacking effectiveness with teams like Liverpool and Man City, even Chelsea and Man U, Wolves and Arsenal is becoming embarrassing. I have no doubt Dele and all the aforementioned attackers would be far more effective in one of those teams.

He seems to have got clumsy with 2 left feet all of a sudden, I always sigh when he gets the ball because he can’t seem to beat anyone these days and usually tackles himself and gives up possession. He’s also much weaker with his shooting these days, and doesn’t seem to get on the end of crosses with his head like he used too. I just don’t understand why he’s declined so much, except to say that the whole team has declined in recent months, like some form of malaise has come over them all. Perhaps moral has dropped to rock bottom because they all understand they’re playing for owners who have no ambition.

I think he is lazy, happy to perform when it suits him, and show off, but anytime hard graft is required he will phone it in. The guy has/had potential to be special, but needs to be a luxury player, which we cant afford.

He’s still got it. I think it’s not just him but other things like the team in general falling apart has played a part.

He became a legend in his own head … believes he’s actually better than he is …

We’d be lucky to get back the £5 million we spent on him
