Dele Alli Has His Smile Back As He Explains Nap Celebration [Video]

By Joe Fish -

It would be unfair to say that Dele Alli was all smiles after Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Everton yesterday. But he was somewhat grinning.

His post-match interview with Sky Sports began on a sombre note as he discussed Andre Gomes’s horrific injury, the distress it had caused teammate Son Heung-min, and the two dropped points on Merseyside.

But when Patrick Davidson moved on to Dele’s goal and cheeky celebration – as he shushed the camera before taking a quick nap on the Goodison Park surface – the 23-year-old couldn’t help but let out a mischievous giggle.

It has been a difficult period for Dele who has had several injuries, faced heavy criticism from pundits and lost his place in the England squad.

Zoom to 1.50 in the below video to see Dele find his smile again.

Dele wasn’t giving the secret behind his celebration away though, telling Sky Sports: “It was something to my friends. I’m not going to speak too much on it.”

Dele now has two goals in three games but this smile may be the best sign yet that he is on the way back to being the player we loved two years ago.

I have no objection with a Levy punt each season…as long as he buys first team quality as a priority. this summer actually was not all bad – it was the neglect leading up to it that has caused the feelings from Poch and the huge slump this season.

This transfer has Levy’s finger prints all over it. He just can’t help himself. It’s like he has to get his way and have his €10m punt. This time it was closer to home rather than France. I’d say Poch turned a blind eye on the basis that he got Ndombele and LoCelso in.
