Defender scouted by Tottenham earlier this season set to join rivals

By Saikat -

Lyon defender Malo Gusto is reportedly closing in on a move to Premier League giants Chelsea.

The 19-year-old Frenchman was linked with a move to Tottenham as well, and Antonio Conte’s side were reportedly scouting him earlier this season.

However, it seems that Chelsea have now taken steps to bring the player to Stamford Bridge and the 19-year-old’s transfer is expected to be completed before the January transfer window closes.

Gusto is highly rated around Europe as he has a big future ahead of him. The 19-year-old has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League defender in the coming seasons and Chelsea will certainly benefit from having a player like him at their disposal.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s need for a quality right back is no secret. Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on bringing in a quality full-back before the January window closes and the Londoners are focused on signing the Sporting CP defender Pedro Porro.

The 23-year-old has two goals and 10 assists to his name across all competitions, and he should prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Tottenham.

Porro is a top-quality talent and he has shown his pedigree in the Champions League as well.

Furthermore, the Spaniard is more developed and mature compared to Gusto and he could make an immediate impact at Tottenham.

The transfer is expected to be finalised before the January window closes, and it will be interesting to see if he can help Tottenham secure a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League next season.
