Tottenham Hotspur’s promising young winger, Romaine Mundle, is poised to depart the club and join Yaya Toure at Standard Liege in Belgium this summer.

The news was confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that Mundle has made a decision to move to the Belgian side. as his contract with Tottenham expires on July 1st, 2023.

According to Romano, the 20-year-old player is set to sign a four-year contract with Standard Liege, lasting until June 2027. The medical tests have already been completed, leaving only the contract signing as the final step.

Romano tweeted:

“Excl: after decision made to leave Spurs, 2003 born winger Romain Mundle is set to join Standard Liège. Here we go.

Agreement reached on four year deal until June 2027.

Medical tests done now, then contract signing. Mundle leaves Tottenham on compensation.”

Mundle’s decision to join Standard Liege comes after Yaya Toure recently left his role as the U16s coach at Tottenham to become the assistant manager at the Belgian club.

The 20-year-old was previously linked with the likes of German club Frankfurt and Koln but he has decided to follow Toure to the Belgian club.

This past season he made 33 appearances in all competitions for the U21s side scoring 8 goals and assisting 6.

He was among the highly rated youngsters at Tottenham and his impressive performances even earned him a call to Tottenham’s first team squad last season, although he never made an appearance.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are on the verge of completing the signing of Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The club is also actively pursuing Leicester City’s midfielder James Maddison, with Newcastle United providing stiff competition for his signature.

As Mundle departs Tottenham for a new chapter in Belgium, the club continues its efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season under newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou.
