Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi in recent weeks.
The Italian has done a phenomenal job with the Seagulls and Brighton are currently competing for a place in Europe next season.
They have played an exciting brand of attacking football under him and De Zerbi is already being looked at as one of the best managers this season.
However, Tom Allnutt from the Times claims that his personality might not be a good fit for Tottenham. Apparently, the Italian has a fiery personality and that might not go down well with the club chairman Daniel Levy.
“The way he has developed this Brighton team, he is a hugely talented manager, but on a serious point, there are some reservations at Spurs about his fiery personality, but my point of view is why not? Why not have a manager like that? It was one of the positive things about Conte, he would fire up his players and the team. Ok it wasn’t good in the press room,” Allnutt said on The Tottenham Way podcast.
Tottenham will have seen the effects of appointing someone like that with Antonio Conte.
The former Tottenham manager was sacked following a public outburst where he questioned the commitment of the players and the ambition of the club hierarchy.
Daniel Levy will not be keen on appointing another manager with a big personality.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can bring in a quality replacement for Conte in the coming weeks.
It has been a dismal campaign for Tottenham and they will have to bring him a quality manager and send out a statement regarding their ambition.
With the future of key players like Harry Kane on the line, Tottenham cannot afford to make any mistakes as far as the managerial appointment is concerned.
De Zerbi is undoubtedly a top-quality manager and he would have been an impressive appointment for Tottenham. However, it seems that the north London giants are looking for a manager with a different personality and it remains to be seen who they end up with.
