Daniel Levy while speaking on a fan forum admitted to have made mistakes in hiring in the past.
Tottenham were a proper team under Mauricio Pochettino who had spent several years to build a top class team.
They consistently finished top four, played attractive football and had an identity of their own.
They also came very close to winning silverware multiple times under him, and in his last year, they reached the Champions League final only to narrowly lose to Liverpool.
Pochettino was fired after that and Levy has now admitted that the club changed their strategy to hiring ‘win now managers’ instead of project managers.
When asked about what has happened the in the past few seasons and the lack of silverware that has come out of it, Levy said (via ROTS1882):
“We came so close with Poch and we changed strategy and hired win now managers, it didn’t work, wrong hires.
So maybe it will take longer, maybe we need this strategy and that’s why I hired Ange.”

They hired the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte both of whome failed to win anything with the club.
Rather, the club ended up losing the identity it created under Pochettino and played some of the most unattractive and boring football in the league.
The mood inside the camp was affected due to both of their poor man management.
After Conte was fired, the club took their time in hiring a replacement.
They were linked with some big names including Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique but ended up hiring perhaps the most unpopular option from the lot in Ange Postecoglou.
And the decision has proven to be a masterstroke. Ange Postecoglou has made an instant impact at the club. He has lifted the mood instantly.
He has created a special bond between the manager, the players and the fans. The players love playing for him and they are playing some of the most attractive football in the league. All of this in just few months.
And while Ange has still not managed to completely rebuild the team, the players he has signed have been top class signings.
For the first time since Pochettino, the old Tottenham looks like they are back and there is no doubt that the future under Ange looks exciting.
