Cristian Romero Transfer Surely Boosted By Matteo Lovato’s Arrival At Atalanta

By The Boy -

Tottenham’s hopes to get their priority transfer deal done have surely taken an upswing as numerous Italian sources including L’eco Di Bergamo are announcing that Matteo Lovato has agreed to join Atalanta.

The cost is thought to be in the region of €11 million including bonuses (€8 million as the fixed part and €3 million as the bonus) and will immediately go to the Percassi family club. 15% of the amount will be divided between Genoa and Padua, the former clubs of the player, Genoa, and Padua.

Of course, Tottenham needs to get the money in place, and the frequently interminable discussions over the scheduling of payments must also be agreed upon.

I take a view that Spurs; other targets for this position are substandard and won’t give us the same chances that Romero might, in what is going to be a truly challenging season.

Once these tasks are completed, perhaps we might see some more movement from Spurs?

You do suppose that Levy is reflective. He would be looking at the next deal.

I think you make a great point, there’s no guarantees that he will adjust to English football, certainly not immediately. Toby will be missed, as Jan has been. This is not how you rebuild a defence, let the old one go to pot and blame individuals for the decline and bring in unproven replacements.

The manager search, this, all smacks of desperation…

We are now desperate to rebuild after plenty of opportunities to do it gradually over the last three years or so were passed up. Levy is reaping what he’s sown, and the tw*t still insists that the PR department to keep trotting out the ‘facilities’ mantra.

Its horrible, all of it…

The whole Grealish to Spurs debacle could have only turned out the way it did with Levy involved. People who still refer to Daniel as ‘shrewd’ are complete pillocks…

How long before spending within an ESL becomes unsustainable? Intergalactic Super League games, on the moon? Branson flies you there for 20m including match ticket… 😂

No wonder spending in football is unsustainable, £100m for a transfer of a registration of footballer from one club to another is absolutely bonkers.

The world has gone mad, in so many ways. 100m to sign a player is just the tip of the iceberg. Where are we actually heading as a civilization? 🤔

Arsenal have signed Ben White for 50 mill. Job done, minimum of fuss, I suspect.

As I said on another blog back when, players like Grealish are not in Southgates DNA. Its Hoddle all over again. You have to embrace him and built the team around him. Pep can see that.

On another note the sooner we are back in that stadium with a crowd that can truly let Levy know what we think and feel the better. I want to see him squirm. I’ll have to do it from a distance but I sure as hell will make my feelings clear.

It appears that City have bid 100 mill for Grealish. I wonder how Levy feels about missing out on him now. I hope it gives him an ulcer. Villa have reportedly bid for Ward-Prose which Southampton have turned down. Might Villa take Winks off our hands or are they another club who refuse to do business with Spurs? It seems strange to me that Pep is willing to bid 100 mill for Grealish who couldn’t get into Southgate’s starting line up. I wonder which of them is the better judge.

Why does everything this club do have to be protracted? You’d think bringing in Paratici would expedite possible transfers from Serie A.
This deal looks to be our “marquee” signing of the summer and I refuse to believe that nobody within the team had an idea of how much he would cost. If we can’t afford him, let’s move on.

I heard Tim Vickery giving his opinion on the player and his concern was that he is a bit reckless and picks up a lot of bookings. That is one man’s opinion but he is one of the few journalists out there i trust. Plus he is a Spurs fan.

Some may see this as the player having heart or commitment to the cause but i see it as a definite red flag especially with the Premier League’s VAR system.

But what do i know? One thing i do know is that i’m sure this transfer will keep going until at least the first game of the season.

Paul…Totally agree…I saw a report somewhere that Levy is looking at 30 Mil pounds for Winks (British player)….Looks like Winks is not going anywhere if that is the amount Baldy is wanting…Lucky if he gets half of that

That’s true, my rough back of the envelope calculation is that for every winner Spurs sign they sign three duds.

Not a very good strike rate.

If I was Romero I would want to know who was my CB partner. Could i rely on them to get me out of a jam if I screw up? Are they likely to put me in a jam..? With our present incumbents giving away pens and free headers in the six yard box on a match by match basis I might wonder whether the Italian pasta is better than the Heinz tinned spaghetti that Levy has offered me over lunch.

HH Again great condense and concise video. I basically read all the same reports and came away most of them are filling the space with unsubstantiated untterances. and like you said, unless there are announcements it’s all writers fantasies. Football wise it is unfathomable we cannot move Sanchez or Dier, Winks unless he goes to Everton for around $20m it seems unlikely any of the albatrosses will be moved. Troy Parrott. I am in total agreement. If without hesitancy the Spurs are willing to send him out, this is not about personal attitude I am affraid. Mk Don as Harry said is a wonderful place, but Troy’s developement at this stage after 3 loan spells is not about his physical health which there are issues, but with his evaluation by Spurs, Championship clubs should be beating down our doors and that should tug at Spurs heart to let him go. I have coached at youth and senior levels and just looking at Troy now and what I saw 3 years ago is very troubling. Even with bad attitude, players will have adpoting problems, but their skillsets are the one constant. He has not improved one bit.

A couple of weeks ago on here I mentioned the possibility of Lewis making an I interest free loan in order to leap frog teams on the field. Its a golden opportunity to be more successful which in turn will mean getting a better naming rights deal and increased revenue from a higher league position.

Sadly Lewis to my knowledge has not put much if anything into the club. I suspect he said to Levy, right, in you go, this is your baby come what may. In his mind Levy is a blinding success in building up the investment portfolio. Football, what’s that?

So with any luck we will be entering the new season with one quality centre back in our squad – supported by Sanchez, Dier, Rodon and Tanganga – may as well give us the title now!

As mentioned below, the arrival of Lovato does not necessarily mean that Romero will come to Spurs as I suspect that Atalanta are already regretting their negotiations with Spurs as Levy continues with his Petticoat Lane haggling. This is a unique window, as posted below, as the major European clubs are all in a financial hole and cannot afford to compete in the transfer market. If Lewis, who has a track record for risk, could only gird up his loins and make the club a substantial interest free loan, we might turn the corner. If one was able to bring in top flight players at substantial discounts to their market values, it wouldn’t be very risky. Sadly, our beloved chairman doesn’t have either the foresight or the cojones to take this opportunity.

As for movement from Spurs – Levy is constipated as usual.
If we don’t get this player it will be a crying shame as this is a unique window in which the bigger clubs aren’t competing for his name (yet). If we hang about much longer then that could change. It’s N’Dombele all over again, the transfer that Levy took months to complete because he couldn’t bring himself to spend the money. Yet he merrily wastes £40m on Sessegnon and Clarke, two players that have done nothing to help our cause. Levy is so erratic with his judgement that he is not fit for the job.

I really hope so Harry. I’m getting so disillusioned with all this. I’ve got this on copy and paste for all the fan sites talking about the skywalk and the YOUTUBE cheer leader videos that pi55 me off!!

#####Awesome if your a loser new fan.

I used to support a football team that was funded to make it stronger each season although with every passing day that memory is fading like alzheimers!!

We are nothing more than a collection of capital assets designed at making ENIC Richer when they sell us.

240million was found for the latest plunge pool and climbing frame and golf course. Yet we can’t spend the extra couple of quid to make our defence stronger..

Anyone who goes on these LevyLand rides should be sectioned and hang there heads in shame.

We WAS a football club.
