Conte’s threat wasn’t aimed at fans – opinion

By The Boy -

Antonio Conte’s post match angst about booing will have been received by some fans as one of those rather dull, ‘get behind the team’ type warnings. Well, it wasn’t.

I appreciate there exists a tranche of supporters who believe that an upbeat outlook beats rock, paper or scissors, but this coach, like all the others ENIC have hired, has not been sufficiently backed. By all means, slug out that debate more time, but one cannot simply pull professional courtesy to serial winner because he isn’t playing unproven players, that you;d quite like to see.

That’s you constructing reasons to look beyond the obvious.

The football media fuelled nonsense that ensued after the club announced it was drawing down additional funds to inject into the club. There was no £150 war chest and scant regard was paid to the quality of those players that were brought in.

The Sun

The squad isn’t;’t good enough and the squad is plagued with players that do not match the aspirations that this club publicly espouses. What top European side’s starting XI does Eric Dier walk into?

ENIC has a billion pound stadium, another serial winner coach and a CEO that is pro European Super League. So where are the players? It is a bad fit, all round.

If you believe Conte is going to be suddenly able to get this squad up to speed, in one January window, I admire your blind optimism!
