“Conte sees something special in him” – Journalist claims Conte really admires Spurs’ £60m target

Spurs boss Antonio Conte believes Everton winger Anthony Gordon has something special, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The English youngster is still being linked with a move to the north London club, and Brown claims Conte admires him.

According to recent reports, Tottenham are still interested in the Everton star having previously pursued him during the summer.

The report from Football London states that Spurs are keeping an eye on the 21-year-old’s situation at Goodison ahead of the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, The Sun claims that the North London club are considering a move for the £60m rated player.

Paul Brown has now told GIVEMESPORT that the young winger is hugely admired by Antonio Conte but has casted his doubt that Spurs will want to get themselves in a bidding war with Chelsea who are also said to be interested in the player.

He said:

“Tottenham’s interest in Anthony Gordon has never gone away. Conte, in particular, really likes this guy – sees something special in him. The issue for them was that they did not value Gordon any more than about 30 million in the summer.

“His value then skyrocketed when Chelsea came in and let it be known quite publicly that they would be willing to pay a whole lot more than that. I cannot see Spurs matching the sort of value that Chelsea have put on him.”

Gordon is one of the country’s most highly regarded young players. This season, he has made 15 appearances and scored three goals.

The England U21 international is not yet the finished product that would justify Everton’s £60 million valuation, but he certainly has the potential.

Ultimately, if that is what Everton want for him, which appears to be the case, Daniel Levy might think twice before pulling out his chequebook. For a player who is still developing and has not proven his worth as yet, that is a lot of money.
