Conte is also keen on adding £55M rated Villarreal star defender despite the arrival of Barça loanee

The arrival of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet is close to occurring. Still, it seems as though Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte isn’t content with the France international filling the left-footed center-back.

According to a report from the Mirror, the Italian is still looking for more at the position and remains keen on wrapping up a deal for Villarreal’s Pau Torres.

Spurs were linked to Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, and that interest has gone cold; it seems the north London club moved on to other potential targets. Torres was part of the Yellow Submarine squad that reached the UEFA Champions League semifinal last season.

Furthermore, some praised Torres’ leadership and dominant displays from the back during that run. Nonetheless, whether it’s the 25-year-old Spanish defender or another player, Conte appears to want depth for that side of the backline.

Last season, he had to utilize Ben Davies, and it’s likely he doesn’t want to have to do that again next season; the 52-year-old wants players capable of playing that role.
