Confirmed: Stadium Bans On The Way After Champions League Breach

The presence of Red Star Belgrade fans – who were supposed to be on a UEFA ban for racist chanting – at Tuesday night’s game upset a good many Spurs fans.

An unconfirmed number of illegal supporters (certainly several hundred or them) managed to not only get tickets, but locate themselves within just a few feet of home fans.

The worst example was in the North Stand, but there have been reports from various areas of the stadium.

Confusion has reigned supreme, of course, and the suggestion that tickets went on general sale due to a muted response at the box office are still circulating. This is incorrect.

As per this blog on Wednesday morning, the tickets were not put on general sale at all.

Sales to members and season ticket holders were so poor, THFC decided to allow these fans to also purchase ‘guest tickets’, which kept the club on the right side of the UEFA regulations, but …these tickets were then obviously syphoned off to away fans.

THFC lost control of their product.

Today, the THST have confirmed all of this with the club, and a storm is a coming.

The Club is investigating the source of those tickets and has stated that Season Ticket holders and One Hotspur members traced as those sources will face the strongest possible sanctions.

Quite how the club plan to work out who sold their tickets on – and to ban fans – is beyond me.
