  1. VincentianMagic says:

Very poor performance, but then again it’s the same group of players who have underperformed all season.

The main problems are of course the full back situations and lack of a quality CB to play alongside/replace Verts/Toby.

The CM always has to include N’Dombele and ideally Lo Celso should be getting more minutes as he has matchwinning capability.

January is notoriously difficult but hopefully we can bring in a couple of fresh faces – ideally a RB and CB. In the summer I’d add a new GK, CM and CF.

  2. James McKevitt says:

Just saw Dele’s comments, players were arrogant and underestimated Man U. They win four games and think they can just turn up at Old Trafford to face a team and manager under pressure and stroll to three points. Boy do we have an attitude problem. Beginning to think this team needs gutted, the way Poch cleared out the rubbish when he started.

    • ronan1882 says:

That’s what it looked like alright. Little evidence of a will to win or even basic professional pride Embarrassed all night by a hungry but bang average United side.

    • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

The ‘painful rebuild’ which never happened.. Its exactly what we need. Transition after two years plus of neglect. A new spine needed now. Half the players gone

  3. Tappaspur says:

Poch lovers. Go to Germany with a spurs shirt on.

  4. David Dillenberg says:

Listening on the radio, what concerned me last night is not just the loss but the manner of the defeat and untimely disappearing act of the team not at the races at all that was disturbing!! Too many players simply not good enough and need to be cleared out in the summer.

    • East Stand says:

Well that’s sort of what the previous manager wanted, perhaps some of you might start believing him now?

I’ve always been convince that Poch had us punching well above our weight and the only way to continue that was to back him and be proactive in the transfer market. Levy seems to have no interest in the rebuild that Poch desperately wanted.

Change the manager for a has been and expect the same over achievement? Doesn’t make sense at all…

      ENIC OUT.

  5. James McKevitt says:

Serious problem with Spurs fitness, looked lethargic off the pace, and this is a team that doesn’t really press anymore. Liverpool press every game, never look tired, rarely pick up injuries. Lack of proper rest over a five year period seems to have burnt this team out.

    • East Stand says:

Poch got blood out of s stone with this lot, let’s see if Jose can do the same. You’re right they don’t press anymore, I have no idea but bringing in Jose will not bring the pressing game back.

I’ll stick my neck out and say that football has moved on and left Jose behind. He just isn’t much good anymore, especially without a transfer budget…

      • David Dillenberg says:

Easty whilst I am conscious that you desire Jose to fail, come on matey give the Special One a chance to stamp his imprint on the side as you may be pleasantly surprised in the long term!!

        • East Stand says:

I may well be, I just don’t expect to be…

        • East Stand says:

I don’t want Jose to fail, we all draw pleasure from being proven right however. I don’t feel that sacking Poch and replacing him with Jose was the right thing to do. The only thing to do was back the old manager, this though was the cheaper option in Levy’s eyes.

I’ll be very surprised if it works and we make top 4 which is clearly what Levy is trying to do. Levy doesn’t understand football if he thinks with the budget that anyone else will do any better.

ENIC have neglected the team to pour concrete and fix glass panels, now they’ve sacked the guy who’s been bailing them out on the pitch. The whole situation is an utter disgrace.

I care about the club but seeing ENIC fail would give me great pleasure, despite the pain of the fans…

          • Tappaspur says:

“I don’t want Jose to fail”😂😂😂😂 yet you want him out of the club. How else will he be outed from the club?

            • Tappaspur says:

Jose you’re fired. What for. For winning the champions League. The instructions were only top four. ENIC don’t want you winning stuff coz it makes them money.

            • East Stand says:

If he wins lots of stuff with us then I won’t want him out. If he doesn’t then what was the point of bringing him in?

I don’t think it’s gonna work out, people can talk him up as much as they like. He just has to deliver and happy for him to stay.

  6. Tappaspur says:

I want to beat Bayern in the champions League final. I want it so much. So so much. It’s the only way to right that wrong.

    • James McKevitt says:

Won’t happen on last night’s performance, they weren’t great, but we couldn’t get close to them.

      • Tappaspur says:

Our players drilled and organized would stuff that lot. Jose needs a bit of time to pump out the crap poch has pumped into them. In great detail.

        • Tappaspur says:

If I was one of the duds before poch I’d be thinking I wish I had 5.5 years and the group of players he had. Also I wasn’t stuffed at home to Bayern.

  7. PlayItAgainSamways says:

    Sissoko and Winks.

Poor. So poor. This is a midtable midfield.

Dier needs minutes, he is not as bad as those 2. Dier and Ndombele please.

  8. ronan1882 says:

Time it was acknowledged that the Winks Sissoko pairing is a 14th place midfield pairing. A pairing that cost poch his job.

Do not understand how Mourinho could have looked for 11 months at how that pairing has constantly failed to work and decided to go with it at OT.

    • James McKevitt says:

Problem starts with Aurier, can’t defend, so Sissoko has to cover for him, leaving Winks who is no defensive mid exposed in midfield with two or three players running at him. Get Aurier out of the club and get a back who can defend and cross the ball.

      • ronan1882 says:

Aurier does need upgrading but so too do winks and sissoko. Neither can reliably progress the ball forward nor effectively screen the defence. Sissy has cost us a goal in each of the PL matches under Mourinho so far.

Neither he nor winks could have got anywhere near starting in16/17. They are more like spurs midfielders of the early 2000s. I’ve seen enough to feel neither is going to improve.

        • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

We had some good centre mids in early 2000s the likes of sherwood, poyet, edgar davids, carrick… These would have made mincemeat of winks and sissoko

  9. James McKevitt says:

Was at the game tonight. Brilliant being in with the Spurs fans. We were awful, like the latter days of Poch. New defence needed with players who can pass the ball, and have some pace. Midfield non existent. No pressing, slow passing. Dele off his game , Sonny off, Harry hardly got decent possession, made UTD look like world beaters. Back to the drawing board. We don’t need to buy in January, that’s a lie. No substitute for class and we’re well short of players with class.

  10. East Stand says:

Jose’s ‘magic’ has already worn off…

  11. Tappaspur says:

New manager comes in. Played 4 won 3 lost 1 (United away) I’ll take that. Scored 11.

  12. Tappaspur says:

Alexandra o Neil doing his ting in the bill nick pub next week. Not for me😁

  13. Tappaspur says:

Jose should just come out and say it. Poch has knackered this team both physically and mentally.

    • East Stand says:

Oh, a ready made excuse for Jose. How convenient…

      • Tappaspur says:

It won’t be the same team for next season I don’t think. A lot will be gone. No excuses needed. We’ll come good. 2020s and beyond mate. Most won’t be here when the glory begins.

  14. Tappaspur says:

How many games we gotta win to get top four? How many games we gotta win to be European champions? I know what I’d be focusing on.

  15. Tappaspur says:

Lovern copying Toby. Pool look polished

    • East Stand says:

      They backed their manager…

      • Tappaspur says:

Coz he was man enough to demand it.

        • East Stand says:

Anyone who demands anything from Levy gets their P45. My theory is that Poch asked for more backing and he was told no so he gave up in the end. Jose won’t last for the same reason. But that doesn’t matter cos Jose is a caretaker anyway, won’t be at Spurs beyond next season, guarantee it.

Levy is the issue here, people can deny it all they want but it’s a simple fact.

          • Tappaspur says:

Season before last levy would rather suck him than lose him.

            • East Stand says:

Uncle Joe never got his cheque book out and it all ground to a halt…

              • Tappaspur says:

Getting moderated. Was saying. F him. SEVEN i bet that burns him more than losing the CL final. Well close anyway.

            • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

Aye they obviously fell out towards the end of the pre season window. Pochs whole attitude changed when no coutinho or dybala landed. And the likes of eriksen wasnt shipped out.. Breakdown of relationship.

        • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

After the clubs champs league run poch said the club needed to ‘be brave’ and will have to operate more like liverpoo in the transfer market if we want to compete. They have been perfect example too. Poch didnt demand it but he said it publicly what was needed.. Levy is a swine he really is

  16. Lilywhite without the II says:

I had to turn off at 80mins, first time I have done that in a long long time…..we have a better squad than united give or take 2-3 players, a supposedly better manager…a better stadium and better trainninnnnngggg facility…so what happened???

  17. Daveyboi says:

Sissoko & Winks simply not good enough if they didn’t play for us no one would be pushing to buy either because even on their best days they’re bang average.
The full back situation is farcical we have 1 of our 2 best CBs playing LB while Sanchez and Aurrier are accidents waiting to happen on the other side.
N’dombele bit part cameos , Lo Celso non existent & the lesser spotted Sessegnon potentially 130mils worth of signings that can’t get a game.
Full backs and CM is a priority in the window and a proper No1.

  18. Tappaspur says:

    Rashford Kane swapsy

    • East Stand says:

Both very good, Kane’s ours so we keep him.

      • Tappaspur says:

Mrs rashford. Put your foot down and tell your man you want to move to London. Manchester is RUBBISH. the arndale centre and king Street ain’t doing it for you shopping and entertainment wise. There’s more life in Haringey hackney and Islington not to forget the other 27 london boroughs. Rashford please your wife. Lister to her. Rashford AND Kane DANGEROUS (at club level)

      • Tappaspur says:

Yep. I’d be gutted for him if he doesn’t win anything at Tottenham. Our top goal scorer with no medals. Would be like Rooney without the medals

    • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

Naaaah rashford doesnt do that every week. He is good though… Kanes another level

  19. Paul Terry says:

Christ this forum is full of knee jerking wallies tonight. Yes – we weren’t very good at all. Yes there are massive issues to sort on defence and in goal. How can people get on the manager’s back already?! FFS. 3 wins out of 4 given the disastrous way were playing before Poch got the boot is hardly a disgrace. We can all bang on about ENIC and Levy being w.ankers until the end of time in the meantime surely we will have to get behind the manager. 2 very winnable games next up before Chelski *excluding Bayern

    • This blog is full of people commenting on a pretty mediocre performance.

      Sorry if that isn’t allowed.

      • Paul Terry says:

HH I agree it was pretty mediocre – 100%. Everyone entitled to their opinion but there is a strand of thought on here that seemingly wants JM to fail to prove their point that ENIC and Levy are tossers ( that doesn’t include you mate I hasten to add). We all know they are tossers and have hamstrung the team , in the meantime I want JM to do well and get rid of underperformers or put a rocket up their arses so they start performing …that’s what supporting the team involves….

        • East Stand says:

I take it you’re referring to people like myself?

Well yes, I believe that Levy/ENIC are a hindrance to the continued development and improvement of the football team. However, I would like to see us win something big under any manager, even Jose.

I’ll be honest I’ve never been a fan of either him or his football but his redeeming feature was that he got it done, he won stuff.

Where did he win stuff? At clubs that were also serious about winning stuff and who put their money where their mouths were.

Spurs under ENIC just aren’t one of those clubs, so what Jose is even doing at Spurs is anyone’s guess. I think he desperately wanted another big job in England and nobody else would touch him with a barge pole.

Levy panicked and is now clutching at straws that his lack of investment in the team wasn’t actually the problem after all. Jose will do his best but I’m sure he’ll come to the same conclusion as Poch. That the team needs an overhaul.

I just don’t feel Jose is the right fit for us and sacking Poch rather than backing him was a massive, massive mistake…

          • Tappaspur says:

And in the mean time will you be getting behind your team and not be waiting to knock them at every opportunity? If the team don’t give you what you deserve and want of course cuss the performance. I do. But then I move on to the next battle. Works for me. LEVY&JOE GOING NO WHERE. Own that man

    • Tappaspur says:

      Tell em Paul.

    • Macandrew says:

The rest of this season is going to be Amazing because finally I think we will see if a proven winning manager can finally change the ‘Tottenham Mentality’ (Bill Nicholson, get’s a pass) when it comes to consistently winning football matches. And that includes winning trophies. No matter how long you’ve been supporting Spurs, it’s been there. Whether it’s 53 years like me or you can only see through 5.5 year old Poch coloured glasses, it’s there and it means when push comes to shove, we don’t turn up or we capitulate. The job the present manager has taken on with the team he has inherited is much more than has been advertised. It’s time for a lot of people to stop wishterbating, that’s right wishterbating about the incompetence of the board and Levy, about ENIC, about how we have such a great set of players, if only we had brought in this player or that player, and ‘The Project’ and all the rest of the wishterbating I sometimes read on these forums. It is what it is! I have no emotional investment in any present or former manager, I love Tottenham…. If you’ve supported Spurs for any amount of time, I can tell you one thing for sure, you have mild or raging schizophrenia or your bi-polar (heehaahaahee). When we finally become that Tottenham Winning Mentality, then everything else will follow, I hope it’s soon as I don’t know how long I can continue to keep Wishterbating…. COYS

      • Steve KillerCushion Williams says:

        Wishterbating? 😂

        • Tappaspur says:

It’s when you touch yourself and wish someone else was doing it. Naomi. Take all that weave out. Rub off all that make up off and get your fine self over here😁. She’s in my age range. Would say Beyonce but my daughter would lose respect for me😂

  20. Tappaspur says:

People going on like José has lost 3 and only won one.

  21. East Stand says:

The team needs an overhaul and Jose is a busted flush…

  22. East Stand says:

We’ll finish 7th along with our wage bill and we might win the FA Cup… ohh I can’t wait!

    • Dan says:

      100 % it’s inevitable,

    • Dan says:

And it’s down to levy , not the managers

    • Spurs est1882 says:

0 chance on FA cup. City being so far off the league will not put all their eggs in the CL basket.

    • Tappaspur says:

Only one man to blame if we do finish 7th. And if that man was still here it would be worse with no FA cup

      • East Stand says:

Who’s that man when the current manager has three quarters of the seasons more than him in which to do his work? If we fail to get top 4 then it will be down to Levy and partly Jose, but he’s a ‘winner’ you know…

        • Tappaspur says:

I’m not blaming anyone. We’ll get it right. Give Jose some time man.

          • East Stand says:

Someone is to blame and it’s the people upstairs for me. Jose will do his best of course he will but he’s the wrong fit for Spurs.

He was a panic appointment by Levy as he saw top 4 slipping away, all about the money. Sadly we stand no better chance with this bloke than we did with Poch.

Tonight we saw grumpy Jose after the game, the more games we lose the more grumpy he will get. It’s easy being ‘nice Jose’ when it’s all fresh and you’ve won a few games. Let’s see his demeanour after some more of the brown stuff hits the fan…

  23. East Stand says:

I’ve seen nothing from Jose so far that excites me at all.

I’m already bored with sitting deep, letting the opposition have the ball and the Toby diagonal long ball and the knock down to Dele. Not as if teams won’t suss that out, I think Ole had tonight…

  24. Urbane Sturgeon says:

The relentlessness with which they anticipated our play and intercepted our moves was embarrassing. We were ponderously predictable by comparison.

  25. Dan says:

Winks and sissy didn’t work at all. We are in December now surely the new boys fitness isn’t a question

  26. Tappaspur says:

The premier League is alive and well. Nuff goals. Enjoy our brand world.

  27. East Stand says:

Poch made us believe until Levy destroyed the belief and momentum. Now we look like the old unsure Spurs again.

Maureen is the WRONG manager for us and Levy is the WRONG chairman…

  28. Cabspur says:

From what i heard on the radio we were second best to everything and beaten all over the park first half only to be saved by Ali who had done sod all up till then ? Lots of work to be done it seems.

  29. Urbane Sturgeon says:

    When’s Ddoris fit again?

  30. England Mike says:

TWO mistakes beat us , Gazza should’ve saved from Rashford and brain dead Siss is just brain dead.

  31. Spurs est1882 says:

    Jose out… Too soon?

  32. Urbane Sturgeon says:

Out pressed, out run, out thought, out classed.

  33. SpursGoliath says:

3 out of 10 showing from the lads

  34. Spurs est1882 says:

What a bad game. Arguably as bad as any game under Poch with subs done way too late.

    • Tappaspur says:

Jose seeing who’s got fight in them

    • East Stand says:

I thought we were beginning to improve before Poch was jettisoned.

      Abysmal tonight.

Poch wanted a rebuild and Levy just wanted to kick that can further down the road rather than address it.

Levy thinks it’s all about managers working miracles rather than paying the going rate and being proactive with transfers. All of this is Levy’s fault…

      ENIC OUT.

  35. Spurs est1882 says:

    Game over

  36. Spurs est1882 says:

Think that is the first corner I have seen off CE to beat the first man and we looked to shocked to do anything.

  37. Urbane Sturgeon says:

This is like the Spuds of a several years ago; your team need a lift? Play Tottenham.

  38. Spurs est1882 says:

    Alli still strolling about.

  39. Urbane Sturgeon says:

My feed seems to be several minutes behind some of yours.

  40. Spurs est1882 says:

Finally made the change we wanted 30mins late!

  41. Urbane Sturgeon says:

AND…………… into the keepers hands. ffs

  42. Urbane Sturgeon says:

I’ve a suspicion Spurs might be the first club to break Moureenho.

  43. Spurs est1882 says:

5 effing mins for LoCelso! 5…! What a load of bull! 5 on 3 and we still can’t get a good attempt!

  44. Spurs est1882 says:

0 shots on target all game…

  45. Tappaspur says:

Celly get me a goal you start next game

  46. Spurs est1882 says:

Macguire with our first shot this half?

  47. Spurs est1882 says:

13 mins left… Surely someone on our bench knows how to pass.

  48. Urbane Sturgeon says:

AGAIN straight into the keepers hands. We’ve not got anywhere near the quality of players as the top teams. What the fcuk is Maureen on about.

  49. Dan says:

    Switching off

  50. Spurs est1882 says:

  51. Spurs est1882 says:

6 goals in Liverpool game. Perhaps watching wrong feed.

  52. Tappaspur says:

Bring on Troy and pass to him

  53. Urbane Sturgeon says:

Ok hands up anyone who thinks Jose’s gonna win a trophy this season?

    Or next?

  54. Spurs est1882 says:

71mins to realise Winks has offered nothing.

  55. Lilywhite without the II says:

    United have nothing…we have less..

    • Spurs est1882 says:

My theory is Levy is intending on stacking up a load of summer friendlies and charge top dollar for us to build confidence of other teams.

  56. Urbane Sturgeon says:

Aurier’s one of our best attackers.

  57. Spurs est1882 says:

    Sissoko… Take him off!

  58. Spurs est1882 says:

Has Poch got a Jose suit on? This game may as well been played on October.

  59. Lilywhite without the II says:

    Winks again..

  60. Spurs est1882 says:

Anyone fancy telling me how that was a foul against winks…. Their right back fell over.

  61. Lilywhite without the II says:

Winks injured yet still stays on…

  62. Lilywhite without the II says:

What is Jose doing…why is N’dombele on yet

  63. Moura 14 touches of the ball

  64. This has been sobering

    • Spurs est1882 says:

Really as I feel like I am that level of drunk where everything seems to move slow and go round in circles.

  65. Tappaspur says:

Bring KWP on and get him to stick with rashford. He has the pace to

  66. Spurs est1882 says:

CE coming on as what we really need is lack of effort and sideways passing.

  67. paul says:

There’s a reason Jose has brought Nuno Santos to Spurs, and it’s on show tonight. His i am berry happy with this squad was obv nonsense

  68. Lilywhite without the II says:

60mins and nothing from the manager/bench
