Club insider says Tottenham ace will be loaned out this summer after recent club announcement

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are poised for a busy summer transfer window with several players, both from the first team and the academy, expected to depart either on loan or permanently. Among these potential exits is young goalkeeper Luca Gunter, according to club insider John Wenham.

Bryan Gil and Djed Spence are reportedly among the first set of players likely to leave, having failed to impress Ange Postecoglou.

Another player who could potentially leave is Alfie Whiteman. It was reported yesterday that the 25-year-old goalkeeper could be on his way out after the recent announcement of Brandon Austin signing a new long-term deal.

Austin’s promotion to the first team, particularly his 14 consecutive appearances on the bench in the latter stages of last season, signals the club’s confidence in his abilities.

While Fraser Forster is the current number 2 goalkeeper at the club, his future is also uncertain, increasingly the possibility of Austin replacing him.

John Wenham has now added Luca Gunter to the list of potential departures. He has backed the young goalkeeper to be loaned out in order to gain valuable first-team experience following Austin’s contract extension.

Wenham told Tottenham News:

“Gunter was excellent in the Premier League 2 play-off final.”

“He made some key saves, and he’s another player who I would like to see head out on loan next season.

“And after Austin’s contract announcement, I am sure he will do just that.”
