Belgian club KVC Westerlo are currently in talks with Tottenham Hotspur regarding a collaboration for the future.
The North London club recently allowed Alfie Devine to join the club on loan in the last window and Westerlo have Luka Vuskovic on loan as well.
The club’s vice chairman Hasan Cetinkaya has now revealed that he met with Daniel Levy and Tottenham technical director Johan Lange in Istanbul to discuss future collaborations.
Cetinkaya has revealed that Westerlo want to work together with Tottenham in the long term, which will see players from the North London club gain first-team experience in Belgium in the coming years and they could help the Premier League side in terms of scouting the top players in the Belgian league as well.
He said to Gazet van Antwerpen: “We want to work together in the long term. For instance, the intention is to have players gain experience here in the coming years as well, but we can definitely join hands in terms of scouting and the operation of the academy as well,” Cetinkaya explained.
“Apart from the loaned players, this could also be of interest to Tottenham.
“Their performance manager Andy Scoulding is in the stands every week in Belgium. So not only do they monitor their own players, they also have a front row seat to follow interesting players in the Belgian league.”
Such an arrangement will certainly benefit Spurs in the long term, and it will be interesting to see if the two clubs can work out an agreement soon. Tottenham are looking to build a squad for the future and they need to invest in talented young players in order to grow sustainably.
Collaboration with these clubs will certainly make their job easier when it comes to unearthing the next big thing in world football.
