Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Genoa defender Radu Dragusin this month.
The North London outfit have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old for a while now. They are reportedly working to sign the player but the Italian club’s President has now revealed (h/t Fabrizio Romano) that they do not need to sell anyone and the 21-year-old is a top player for them.
“Radu is a top player and top guy but we will make our final choice. We don’t need to sell anyone, we will make our decision but we won’t be forced by anyone”.
The claims from the Genoa President will certainly come as a blow for Tottenham and it remains to be seen how they react. Judging by the recent reports, Tottenham seemed confident of signing the player.
They are in need of defensive reinforcements and the 21-year-old would have been a key player for them in the short term as well as the long term.
Dragusin has been outstanding for Genoa in the Italian league and he certainly could have to make an immediate impact in the Premier League as well. With key players sidelined due to injury, Tottenham need a central defender like him in order to tighten up at the back. They will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification this season and they cannot hope to finish in the top four without the right reinforcements this month.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for the North London club as well, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to force a move away from Genoa.
