Club CEO travelling to London to potentially finalise a deal with Tottenham for 23-year-old

Djed Spence has been strongly linked with a move away this summer.

Tottenham aim to offload surplus squad players who are not in Ange’s plans this summer transfer window.

One player likely to make a permanent move out of North London this summer is right-back Djed Spence, who spent last season on loan at Genoa.

According to CalcioMercato, Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez is travelling to London to negotiate a deal with Spurs for Djed Spence.

The Italian club’s representatives will hope to finalise a deal which will see the young right-back move to Serie A.

Earlier in January, the Lilywhites completed Radu Dragusin’s transfer to Genoa for €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

As part of that agreement, Spence was loaned to the Italian club for the rest of the season, with Genoa holding an option to buy on a permanent deal.

Since joining Genoa, the 23-year-old has been a regular feature, making 16 appearances in Serie A, playing both as a full-back and in midfield roles on both flanks. (Transfermarkt)

It has been reported previously that Genoa’s interest in Spence dates back to last summer, independent of the Dragusin deal.

Spence’s contract with Tottenham runs until June 30, 2027. Since joining Spurs in the summer of 2022 for a transfer fee of £20 million, he has made only six appearances, totalling 41 minutes.

His time at the Lilywhites has included loan spells at Stade Rennais and Leeds United before his current stint in Italy.

Blazquez’s visit to London highlights Genoa’s serious intent to secure Spence permanently. The discussions between the clubs will determine whether Spence will continue his career in Italy, potentially making a significant impact at Genoa.
