Chris Sutton thinks experienced Tottenham ace should not start for them

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has attracted a lot of criticism for his performances this season.

The 36-year-old French international goalkeeper produced another error-prone performance in the north London Derby against Arsenal.

Spurs were comprehensively beaten by Arsenal in the Darby earlier this month and the Gunners were handed the lead following a mistake from the Tottenham keeper.

Popular pundit and former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has now revealed that Lloris needs to be dropped and he should not start for Spurs this season.

The former Blackburn star has also backed Fraser Forster to replace the Frenchman in the starting lineup until the end of the season.

He wrote in his column in The Daily Mail: “I know you are only doing what your manager tells you but I want to see more intent from all of you, Harry Kane included.

“And Hugo Lloris, you’re dropped, one mistake too many. Fraser Forster, grab your gloves.”

There is no doubt that Lloris has been a loyal servant to Tottenham since joining the club and he has put in numerous match-winning displays for them over the years.

However, his regression is evident and Tottenham will have to find an upgrade in the upcoming windows.

The London club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months and it will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte can find a quality alternative when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are fighting for a place in the top four right now and the defeat to Arsenal with have come as a damaging blow for them.

The London club are currently 14 points adrift of their north London rivals and it remains to be seen whether they can turn things around during the second half of the campaign and secure a place in the Champions League next season.
