Chelsea now leading the race for Tottenham star with a more appealing offer

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham and Chelsea hardly exchange players, but the London rivals could do business over the signature of Harry Kane this summer, so claims The Athletic.

Kane looks to be on his way out of Tottenham after informing them of his intention to leave.

Spurs want to keep him for another season, but they face mounting interest in the England captain.

Manchester City had been seen as the favourites to sign him considering that they are heavy spenders and would need to replace Sergio Aguero.

However, The Athletic is reporting that Chelsea could beat them to the signature of the striker.

Both clubs would struggle to meet Spurs’ £150million asking price and might be forced to include a player in their offer.

City can add the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to their bid but Spurs will struggle to pay their salaries.

The report then says that Chelsea, on the other hand, is offering to add Tammy Abraham to their offer.

Abraham makes around £60,000 per week at Stamford Bridge and that wage would be more affordable to Tottenham.

Kane is on an extended break at the moment, but Tottenham is relaxed because they believe clubs will struggle to meet their asking price for his signature.

Nothing in football surprises me but Citeh would be anyone’s first choice, surely, but Harry might not have the luxury of choosing. Who knows what’s happening behind the scenes. As usual, the gossip is overwhelming, mostly made up & yet we still believe everything we read. How gullible we all are.

No way in hell does this happen. Why even entertain it?! Last player to ever go from them to us and vice versa was Poyet pre Levy over 20 years ago. Unless it benefits us, Levy will never do business with them and the same goes for Abramovich.

There will be no deal between Chelsea and Tottenham even if they offered £200 million. That’s about the only thing I would agree with Levy on.
