Chelsea enlist the help of former star in bid to beat Tottenham to the signing of midfielder

Chelsea has moved ahead of Tottenham in the race for Feyenoord midfielder, Orkun Kokcu after getting some help from Didier Drogba.

Spurs have made the Turkey international one of their transfer targets after following him for much of last season.

The young midfielder is currently with the Turkish squad for Euro 2020 and he is highly regarded around Europe.

Arsenal is the other London club that wants to sign him, but Spurs will feel that they are ahead of the Gunners in the race for his signature considering that they can offer him European football.

However, the competition from Chelsea is one that they will probably lose and the Blues have even upped the ante in the race for the 20-year-old who is also being targeted by AC Milan.

Turkish TV channel Vole via the Daily Mail reports that Drogba spoke to the midfielder’s family and arranged a meeting between them and Chelsea.

The meeting enabled the Blues to pitch their plans for the youngster to his family and it has gone a long way to show them that the Blues have good plans for him.

Spurs will struggle to convince him to join them now, but their new manager could help by promising him regular first-team action.
