Championship star will be hoping to join Ange Postecoglou in the Premier League

Ipswich Town secured promotion to the Championship after an impressive season in League One earlier this year.

They have made a flying start to life in the second division of English football and Ipswich are currently second in the league table with nine wins and a draw from 11 league games. They are currently dreaming of back-to-back, promotions and midfield star Massimo Luongo will be hoping to join compatriot Ange Postecoglou in the Premier League with Ipswich.

The 31-year-old has been a key player for the Championship club this season and he has been ever-present for them in the midfield. The central midfielder is undoubtedly one of the best performers at the club right now and it remains to be seen whether he can guide them to promotion at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the former Tottenham player has heaped praise on Postecoglou and hailed and the job he has done at the north London club so far. Luongo revealed that every Australian is secretly a Tottenham fan now and it is great to watch his team impress in the Premier League.

Luongo told SunSport: “That would be lovely… we’ll see. What Ange is doing is incredible.

“Every Aussie is following Tottenham now, every Aussie is a secret Tottenham supporter.

“It is great to watch from afar. Being in this country, everyone knows he’s a genuine person. You can see that in his interviews and he’s got a passion for the game, he is hungry for success.

“Has it surprised me? No, definitely not. I’m surprised that an Aussie had the opportunity to get into the Premier League.

“He’s already blown expectations out by doing that.”

“We’re doing alright, only 11 games in but we’re doing some good stuff and it’s enjoyable which is the main thing.

“Promotion last season was the plan but even now we’re not talking about promotion.

“We’re talking about building our performances.

“We know where we’re at, we’re not stupid. We’re second in the league but we need to stay humble and do the right things.”

Tottenham have been very impressive in the Premier League so far and they are currently on top of the league table. They will be hoping to return to the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season. Their exciting brand of attacking football has been a major hit with the fans as well as the neutrals.

It remains to be seen whether they can build on their impressive start to the league campaign now.
