The opening three Premier League games, before the first international break of the campaign,
can often set the tone for the rest of the season. Begin well and you can carry the momentum
into the busy autumn and winter period. A bad start, however, can drain confidence and leave
one playing catch-up.
Tottenham’s campaign gets underway against newly promoted Leicester City on August 19.
Spurs will travel to the King Power Stadium for the Monday night game with confidence,
knowing that if they can match the hosts for work-rate, the extra quality they possess in their
ranks should tell.
The Leicester game is followed by the visit of Everton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The
Toffees have sold another of their better players this summer, with the transfer of Amadou
Onana to Aston Villa. Spurs will be hopeful of a comfortable afternoon in front of their home fans
on August 24.
Spurs are expected to be favourites to win their opening two fixtures across all online betting
sites including Bet442, who provide sports fans with excellent value.
The final fixture ahead of the international break, however, may be met with a certain amount of
trepidation by Spurs fans as they travel up north to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Last season, Spurs were defeated 4-0 by the Magpies, but this wasn’t as bad as the previous
season’s 6-1 humiliation, in which the away side were 5-0 down on 21 minutes. Ange
Postecoglou will be hopeful that his side’s fortunes on Tyneside will change on September 1.
