“But they already knew they were going” fans react as Tottenham set to fine players

Tottenham duo Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso are set to be fined by the club after they defied orders to travel for international duty.

There had been a club vs country row between Premier League clubs and the red list countries before this international break.

The clubs attempted to lobby the government to grant exemptions to players travelling to the countries for the latest international matches so that they won’t have to quarantine for 10 days on their return.

However, the UK government refused to grant them such an exemption and the clubs decided together not to release their players to the red list nation.

But Romero, Lo Celso and other Argentine players in the EPL defied the orders from their club and they travelled.

Interestingly, their match against Brazil was abandoned because they were accused of breaking quarantine rules.

The Telegraph is now reporting that Tottenham will fine their players who went for the matches.
