‘but it’s beginning to look like’: Harry Redknapp comments on Tottenham’s top-four chances

Tottenham Hotspur are currently pushing for Champions League qualification and a win over Aston Villa later today could prove to be priceless for them.

Aston Villa are currently ahead of Tottenham in fourth place and a win here would be absolutely vital for the north London outfit. Former manager Harry Redknapp has now shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s top-four chances.

He believes that it will be a straight fight between Aston Villa and Tottenham for the final Champions League spot. Redknapp added that Manchester United are currently miles away and they are unlikely to be able to get into the top four.

He said (h/t Spurs Web): “Ange has done well, I like him. He comes across really well, looks like a good guy and says it like it is. He doesn’t come out and speak a load of jargon like a lot of managers do.

“I still make Tottenham favourites for fourth place, absolutely. I think they’ll finish above Aston Villa. Villa have been great too, but it’s beginning to look like a straight fight between those two clubs.

“At the moment, Manchester United are miles away – I don’t see them anywhere near winning the title or being close to doing so in the next few years either. I thought at one point they could finish in the top four this season, but then I watched that game against Fulham and I still reckon they’re miles away.”

Tottenham have impressed with their free-flowing attacking football this season and they have added some exciting players to the squad as well. However, they need to produce results on the pitch and qualifying for the Champions League should be their top priority. Not only would it boost their transfer coffers, it would also help them attract top quality players in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou will be desperate for his team to secure a top four finish.

Tottenham certainly have better players compared to Aston Villa and they will need to be consistent. The north London outfit started the season really well but they struggled because of a number of injury problems. There is no doubt that they have the quality to beat Aston Villa later and overtake them in the race for Champions League qualification soon.
