Boost for Spurs as Ange confirms player is fine to play against Fulham despite traumatic week

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski is ready to be involved in the upcoming game against Fulham, despite the harrowing experience he and the Swedish national team endured during a recent Euro 2024 qualifier in Brussels.

Kulusevski was among the players and fans present at the stadium in Brussels when a terror attack unfolded this week.

The qualifier between Sweden and Belgium had to be abandoned due to the tragic events that unfolded in the Belgian capital.

Hours before kick-off, two traveling supporters were tragically killed in a terror attack.

Players and fans were forced to stay inside the stadium for nearly two hours while authorities apprehended the ISIS gunman responsible for the attack.

Both teams, in a display of unity and solidarity, decided not to return to the field after half-time and the match was abandoned.

UEFA later confirmed that the game would not be replayed, with the score standing as the final result.

Ange Postecoglou had a conversation with Dejan Kulusevski upon his return to Tottenham and confirmed that the player is in the right frame of mind to face Fulham.

The manager stated (via Daily Mail):

“He’s fine. I had a chat with him. Like everyone else, we shake our heads at these things. We go to a football game, and these things happen. It’s sad, confronting how close it comes to your own world, but Decky is fine. He’s back, trained yesterday (Thursday) with the team, and is ready to go.”

An incident like this can definitely be traumatic for players.

Fortunately there were not a lot of casualties and the fans and players inside the stadium were unharmed.
