Blow for Tottenham: Ange confirms star player is a doubt for the game against Brighton

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has shared an update regarding the fitness of captain Heung-min Son ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Brighton on Sunday.

Son has been a doubt for this fixture after picking up a hamstring injury during Spurs’ Europa League opener against Qarabag, which saw him leave the field early due to discomfort in his thigh.

During his pre-match press conference, Postecoglou confirmed that Son has been working hard to recover from the injury.

However, the manager indicated that the South Korean forward is unlikely to be available for the Brighton clash as his recovery has not progressed quickly enough to meet the matchday deadline.

Postecoglou further suggested that if Son is unable to play this weekend, it would be wise for him to sit out South Korea’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers, allowing him additional time to fully recover from his hamstring issue. As quoted by the Standard, Postecoglou commented:

“Sonny unlikely, he’s pushing hard but I don’t think the turnaround will be quick enough for him to be available to us at this stage.”

Despite Son’s absence, Tottenham have been in excellent form, recording five consecutive wins across all competitions.

The squad’s attacking options have performed well in Son’s absence, which is a positive sign for the club.

However, the return of the skipper would still provide a significant boost to the team as they aim to build on their strong performances.

Tottenham fans will be eager to see their captain return to full fitness soon, as his leadership and ability on the pitch are key to their ongoing pursuit of success this season.
