Tottenham Hotspur ended the year 2023 on a good note with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Pape Sarr, Son Heung-Min, and Richarlison each found the back of the net in the match. The Spurs goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, came close to maintaining a clean sheet, but the visiting side’s Alex Scott scored around the 84th minute.
Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who opened the scoring for Spurs in that match, unfortunately, suffered an injury around the half-hour mark. The player appeared to be in distress while leaving the field. Postecoglou later confirmed that Sarr had suffered hamsting injury.
Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min scored his 12th goal of the season against Bournemouth. He has been in a terrific run of form.
Unfortunately for Postecoglou, the South Korean international will not be available in January due to his commitment with the national team who are off to the Asian Cup games.
The 58-year-old Australian manager confirmed the news in his post math press conference (via Football London):
“No, he won’t be [available]. He’s going away.”
Sitting in 5th place on the Premier League table, Spurs trail 4th-placed Arsenal by a mere point and just 3 points behind the top place.
Ange will be hoping for the club to bolster the squad in the January window so he can build on the terrific start.
