“Best Striker In The World” A Rare Olive Branch Offered From Stamford Bridge

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has hailed Tottenham counterpart Harry Kane as the “best striker in the world” in an interview with the Metro.

After a random 2017 debut which threatened to make him a one-cap wonder, Abraham broke into the senior England squad for real in October of last year and got to saw his London rival up close in training.

“Best striker in the world,” Abraham said of the Three Lions skipper in the Metro. “Just training with Harry, it’s crazy. drill after drill after drill.

“Even when we just have little things like set pieces before a game, the ball coming to him in the box, everyone is just chilling, relaxing, and Harry Kane just bangs it top corner. You’re just looking at him like ‘woah’”

It is nice to see Abraham’s national alleigance trump club pride in this case. Too often England relationships and success are poisoned by club rivalry, as Rio Ferdinand has spoken about in the past, as the Daily Star details.

That being said, I don’t think Harry is the best striker in the world. I think he may have been a couple of years ago, on the back of his 37-goal 2017-18 season for Spurs which he followed by winning the World Cup Golden Boot.

But injuries have taken their toll, and the burden of playing every minute of every match for club and country have forced him to change his game.

Right now I’d put Robert Lewandowski ahead of him. And of course Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo, if they now count as genuine strikers.
