Best Manager Since Ramos

Intentional or not, these are by far the most revealing comments we’ve had from Pochettino yet.

“Leaving would be different (if there was a) different result after the final, maybe. Really it’s a moment to step out of the club and maybe to leave the club,” he said.

“After the final, this was not great to finish like this. I’m not a person not to face the problems, to face difficult situation.

“I love a big challenge and difficult challenge and of course to rebuild. When I say rebuild, I mean rebuild that mentality that next season we can repeat a similar season. I think that motivates me a lot.”

Reuters

What did he actually mean, then?

Had we won the European Cup final, he might have left. This is at best petulant stuff.

Big managers don’t hit n’ run. Big managers build. And by build – as ever this blog is NOT aimed at cretins – so build means to nurture and maintain a squad that can pull off more than just one party trick. That’s Ramos territory.

If Pochettino is sincere about skirting off after winning a big trophy, then it says a lot about the fragility of his ego and a fundamental lack of belief in himself.

Indeed, it shows the exact same towards ENIC.

He knows they will never back him fully.

However.

I think this was Poch doing his ‘what a pretty boy I am’ routine, designed to make weak kneed fans pour blind love in the Argie’s direction.

The truth of his ham fisted words is revealed in what follows. ‘Not a man not to face problems.’

Our hero. But it gets worse.

When I say rebuild, I mean rebuild that mentality

This is on a par with his ‘be brave’ nonsense.

For a moment there, Poch veered from the corporate line and could have been mistaken for we were genuinely interested in building the squad, opposed to watching it merely stagnate.

Lamela has been a disaster yet (more on him to follow). Wanyama is beat up and need replacing.

Eric Dier is in competition with Dele Alli to see who can go backwards the quickest.

In conclusion.

Pochettino has nothing to lose at Spurs. The world knows how restricted managers are under Levy.

Hell, Poch could slump into mid table and his stock would barely reflect it.

If I were running Spurs, I’d buy him who he told me he needed, and let the pressure of delivering seal his lips.

I don’t blame Lewis for not putting his own money in. To him its just a business. If I run a company and someone said “give me £50k and I will increase your revenue for 1yr by £5k” I would tell them to do one. Basically winning a trophy, business wise, will only add about £5m to the coffers at best, winning a few will add multipliers, and potentially add sponsorship, but in a pure cold view, Levy/Lewis are maximising their investment by investing just enough to get into the CL and knockout stages each year.

my issue is…they make £120m a season profit, we have to sell to buy, yet clubs that are below us without out rich owners seem to manage to buy without going into debt. So my issue is they must have taken close to £500-750m out of our club over past decade, maybe more. So its not spending his money I want, its spending some of the clubs money, even half of that amount could have changed our team to win a lot over the years. then they racked up the club to hilt in debt yet its the thing they bought is probably in their names.

Pooch has never won anything yet he is spoken of alongside the likes of Guardiola etc… why? Because his reputation is built on what he has achieved despite ENIC and Levy. So he gets the kudos even though he never wins anything. He hides in this perennial narrative of “new projects” “rebuilding mentality” ” we are in a different place ” If he was given the funds and told to deliver success I doubt he would stay for long. He likes being seen as an unsupported coach doing the best he can.

Yeah I wish Poch would shut the fridge up with this leaving stuff. “Win something big and I’m off”. Not a good message to embed in the subconscious of the players.

I reckon he does it to wind up the press, give them headlines. I reckon he walks away laughing after saying that stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I reckon there’s a couple in the background that Levy is working on, he is probably trying to lower the price, as is his want in life !!

Well well well; Season ticket uptake in the bag. Poch rolls back all his post CL comments. Fernando offered a new contract. Brave 2.0 confirmed. Act accordingly.

Yes Paul it’s looking depressingly familiar. If the expected names depart then getting new players in will be difficult with so little time available.
The idea of closing the window before the season starts makes absolute sense, however unless all the leagues are tied to the same closing date it makes a mockery of our decision to close early. It means most of the top European leagues will be able to still take players from the PL for a further 3 weeks. It’s madness.
Poch cannot be happy with this situation,it defies logic.I notice the subject of him possibly leaving if we won the CL came up again in yesterday’s presser.Who’s to say he wouldn’t walk if the threadbare squad is weakened even further.I for one wouldn’t blame him.

instead of Llorente again why not go back for Defoe as back up to Kane at least he is a goal scorer and a bloody good one at that

Ok, so lets say Levy backs Poch…we win the FA cup, or league cup…will he jump ship? Or is he talking just the League or CL? Regardless, if you were a player, is this inspiring you to win…the better they do the more chance they will leave a manager they really like and be left with a typical Levy manager.

My prediction, if Poch leaves, Kane, Alli, Sissoko, Toby, Jan will all go.

Llorente again???? And saved his wages over the summer as well. How dare we think he’s not a great business man. That’s great business. So when Rose Toby and the Danish waste go as well I work nxt to a cemetery. If he pays me the relevant agents fees I’ll go and dig some fucking corpses up and he can whack a shirt on them. Pay them 10k a week, be sneaky tho cis they won’t need it and he can funnel that off to uncle Joe as well. Just fuck off spurs this is absolutely taking the piss out of fans who deserve better

According to some reports poch has said hes been chatting to levy about transfers during recent flight to asia.. And hes happy with”whatever squad daniel provides him to work with” and that hes always happy…. With talks of rose and toby following trips, with only 3 odd weeks left of the window this is worrying… All the big clubs get their business done early. Levy doesnt learn. Expecting yet another slow start to our season as our new player, or players will take time to settle.. The superbowel project cannot be used as an excuse anymore so levy and poch may be blaming brexit again if this window turns out to be yet another shit show.. Surely mr lewis and levy can afford 3 or 4 or 5 quality players so we can really kick on.

Of course they can afford 4 or 5 top players Killer, the problem is as Lewis has publically stated he will not invest any of his own money in the playing squad.
So there you have it,sell to buy,but it won’t get you real quality.
Unfortunately these parasites will not be selling up any time soon until they have raped and pillaged the local area and then they walk off with their spoils. There is so much more money to be made from their social engineering of Tottenham.
