Berbatov weighs in with his opinion on Harry Kane wanting to leave Tottenham

Dimitar Berbatov says Spurs should find a reasonable way to allow Harry Kane to leave after he said he wants out.

England captain, Kane, has been loyal to Tottenham for his entire career and he has had a fantastic one on an individual level.

He has scored more goals than players who have won multiple titles, but Spurs have still not won a trophy since he has been at the club.

Almost every summer, his future is up in the air, but he ends up staying put in North London.

But he wants to win team trophies now and has asked Spurs to allow him to leave and join a club where he can achieve that.

Tottenham doesn’t want to sell, although it remains unclear if they will grant him his wish.

Berbatov was in a similar situation when he played for Spurs and had to hand in a transfer request to force a move to Manchester United in 2008.

He doesn’t want Kane’s situation to be like his and says if truly the Englishman wants to leave, the Lilywhites have to make it easy for him.

He said via Sun Sports: “I saw the clip of [Kane] waving and clapping the fans after the defeat to Aston Villa and he could have just been thanking the fans for their support, after all that was the first time they were back at the stadium.

“I can see why that could be seen as him saying goodbye, but let’s not jump to conclusions and at the end of the day he’s still at the club and he’s got a big couple of months coming up.

“It’s never a good thing for a player and the club to fight, if a player has expressed they want to leave then they have made up their mind.

“If a club fights and makes a move away complicated for the player then it’s not a pleasant situation for everyone involved, including the fans and other players.

“If Kane has told the club he wants to leave then they should find a reasonable way to agree what the fee should be and how to part ways.”
