Belief Like Lightening To Strike Twice?

By The Boy -

Despite this week’s Champions League win, the bookies still have Spurs down as Premier League also rans. City are @1/4 on, Tottenham @11/1 and the draw is @5/1.

Playing for pride can be an awkward business and as sure as eggs are eggs, we will not be witnessing a repeat of Tuesday nights air hockey routine.

Tottenham have only won one of their last eight visits to the Etihad (W1 D1 L6), conceding 23 goals in this period (2.9 per game).

Spurs may not be suited to a less frenetic pace which would almost certainly reveal an obliterated midfield.

Whatever the outcome today, it can’t stop Spurs heading to Amsterdam.

Can belief like lightening, strike twice?

Manchester City have won each of their last three Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, the Citizens are looking to equal their competition best run of four successive wins versus Spurs.

Tottenham are looking to become the first team since Liverpool in 2008-09 to win away in the Premier League against both Manchester clubs in the same season.

None of Manchester City’s last 25 Premier League games have ended level, the longest current run in the competition. The Citizens have won 21 of those 25 games (L4), including each of the last nine.

No side has won more points in Premier League games between the ‘big six’ this season than Man City (19), while only Manchester United (6) have won fewer points than Spurs (7).

Your right in the sense he prob deserves a pay bump compared to some of the trash that makes more them him. But with that said, you hit it on the nail. Toby true professional, also knows that by playing this good it ups his payday if he leaves (or stays). Tin tin……..you’d think he would be trying to beat the world right now. Hes not. Worse, hes sleep walking the field & at the same time hurting his sell on value. When was the last time he scored off a free kick………cant remember. Wish he’d just snap out of it cause he really is a talented player. Play the rest of the season like it’s his last & he will get his payday one way or another

Well if Eriksen goes missing in a CL semi final because of the dot dash then he’s a khant. This is it. Two paired teams that players have played for both clubs. Its written on the walls in Amsterdam the heroes of Vertongen and co. How many semi final defeats the last one against Man United still tastes like shit. Yea no investment in the playing staff, it’s what it is now. A chance to play in a CL final. If that is not motivating enough for the current crop down Hotspur way to give it their all then they deserve nothing. Levy should hold out a branch with a big fat bonus of large dosh to each player if they make the final. Another chance like this will never come along again.

I just wish Pooch wouldn’t be “so happy” when we lose. The squad is in a shambolic state as a direct result of zero investment and we look very much like we will lose tow of our best players in Eriksen and Toby. I agree Eriksen has been off the boil but that is due mostly to Levy and Enic not paying him what most other “competing” clubs would and will. It must suck the passion out of you if you know you are on less than half of some of the other squad members.Toby’s form this season however shows what a true world class professional he is . He has been one of the most consistent performers this season despite the lack of progress on his contract situation. Again Levy and Enic playing penny wise pound foolish as to replace him would cost a lot more than retaining him and if Pooch tries the old ” Foyth and Sanchez ” will provide adequate cover routine and the fact the he is “so happy ” with the squad rhetoric then he can go do one as well……..

Any latest on injuries to winks and sissy? Couldnt see match sadly but heard we had decent enough chances to score ,,will try and catch it on M.O.D.
If we win the last 4 matches we should be ok ,the one im sweating on most is Wetspam as they can play when their up for it and they will against us.

I agree, after an initial torrid 15 minutes he settled down really well and neither Sterling nor Sane got much change out of him.
There’s a really good player to come out there and he’s been asked to play in various positions in his early career with us.Similar to Dier but so much more skilful with a better reading of the game. You have to remember how young he is playing in defence in the PL.
As someone mentioned earlier Dier has regressed so much in the last year.

Went flat second half.

Nothing match, nothing result.

Maybe deserved a 1-1 based on creating 7 clear chances I don’t know. Did a lot better than I expected today – City look a bit ‘off’. Could be Liverpool’s year…

I agree but I think Poch likes the fact he can fill in for several positions.Doesn’t make him good enough though.Strangely I think our 2 CMs would be Sissoko and Winks.
Dier like Davies is backup at best.

We need so much development to this squad. Two wing backs two midfield players on D, and one atm. If we sell Toby and Eriksen to fund this then we need to also replace them with another CB and AM. Plus another striker.

Eddie
Eddie

The usual culprit for that is Dier.

Also about refs being awful and corruption yesterday, that’s always been there and of course is not good but doesn’t interfere with the dynamics of the sport like VAR to such an extreme degree so can’t compare.

East Stand

It will be a miracle if we come away with anything today. The paucity of tangible options and lack of squad depth is painfully obvious today.

Still think we can get top 4 with a loss today but 3rd might be stupidly tight now.
