Barcelona looking to hijack Tottenham’s move for main Serie A target

By Bruce Grove -

Barcelona has emerged as competition for Tottenham in their bid to sign Cristian Romero this summer.

Tottenham have been in talks with Atalanta over landing the Copa America winner before this transfer window closes.

The Italians signed him on loan from Juventus last summer and have the option of making the transfer permanent for around £14m.

They are asking Tottenham to pay £51m, while the Lilywhites is looking to do a deal for around £42m for the 23-year-old.

As Tottenham struggles to get the deal over the line, Sportitalia via The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona is now interested in a move for him.

The report says the Catalans are looking to hijack the move after watching him impress at the Copa America.

Atalanta is reportedly happy to have another club vying for his signature because it would drive up his transfer fee.

However, in a boost to Tottenham’s chances of signing him, the report claims Barcelona’s financial struggles means it is very unlikely that they would have the money to get the transfer sorted.

They need to offload some of their current players to compete with Spurs and that gives the Lilywhites the chance to complete the transfer.

Definitely. For the sake of the experiment, I actually managed to tear a little gash on a sheet of paper using only one arm of a scissor. I doubt Levy will get that far in signing Romero. Really proud of myself. Now, if I could borrow a Formula One race car from anyone…

No, not happening.
Everyone knows Barcelona are beyond ‘brassic’ & have to offload players to accommodate both the players they’ve got on FREE transfers (Agüero, Depay, García) & Messi’s reduced new wage.

Number 5 is more impossible than the others?

  1. Being given a One Armed Scissor to cut paper
  2. Trying to clap with one arm tied behind your back
  3. Running a 100m Olympics final with your fancy-dan running pumps tied together
  4. Driving in a Formula One race with only three tyres
  5. Attempting to sign world class players for Spurs under the watchful eye of Levy

What do all these things have in common dear reader?

Wake up Bruce.Barca can’t give their players away to get their wages of the bill,so Messi can be resigned. This is probably Fiorentina trying to push the price of Romero up,which he’s worth by the way. However Levy”we really tried”,won’t speng the money. No lessons learned from previous episodes.Same old same old.

Get serious. Barcelona are completely skint. Levy is hoping someone else comes in for Romero so he can be gazzumped and say that at least he tried whilst keeping £50m in his little bald wallet. We’re only allowed to pretend to be a big club because we’ve got a chairman who’s a total w*nker.
