Balance of transfers are bound to be on Postecoglou’s mind

By The Boy -

Tottenham’s transfer window came with a bang, with several outlets suggesting that radical change was coming in N17 and to some extent, the club did make sweeping change. Tanguy Ndombele played his last game for Tottenham in the FA Cup on 9 January 2022 – for which he was duly booed off the pitch.

Once a record signing, The Frenchman had been shunted out to Galatasaray, but he still failed to make a credible impact in the Süper Lig club and instead faced blunt criticism around his fitness and weight. The fallen star saw his contract torn up and ended up back in France, specifically Nice, where he will presumably wonder what went wrong between now and 2017 when he originally appeared on the radar of Europe’s elite. There were a few other players who were essentially going nowhere, offloaded in the summer, too, but the real story was who might come in. Knowing who Ange Postecoglou didn’t want was only half of the story.

One priority could have been a backup goalkeeper, as current options lack sufficient experience. Spurs might also seek reinforcement at centre-back, given the team’s vulnerability in defence. Additionally, bolstering midfield depth and adding a reliable striker to share the scoring burden with Harry Kane could be beneficial. Identifying the right players is crucial and Spurs fans can place bets where you can win real money, particularly if you sign up at a casino through NoDepositTracker adding excitement to the transfer speculation.

Alas, what the bold Aussie ended up with were prospects and yet more punts. With Archie Gray, the Lilywhite’s seized on the opportunity to swoop on the youngster this summer, paying £40 million to bring him to N17, which was a sizeable fee for a player with just one year of experience in the Championship under his belt. So, far, Archie’s odd minutes have looked less than appetite-whetting. Gray is yet to start a game for Spurs and with European football on the books, that cannot be right, can it?

Lucas Bergvall has been easier on the eye, but he too has (at the time of writing) only amassed 30 Premier League minutes. Regrettably, when was brought on against Azerbaijan for his country in the last few days. Bergvall was expected to make a difference, but his short time on the pitch left much to be desired. Swedish media outlet Fotballskanalen was particularly harsh, stating that the young midfielder “tried to deal with the ball and be fearless” but ultimately “failed at everything.”

Big Ange certainly has it all to do!
