Attacker linked with Euro giants ‘wants to stay at Spurs’

By Saikat -

Ben Jacobs feels English sensation Mikey Moore wants to continue at Tottenham amidst interest from Real Madrid and PSG.

Despite being just 16, Moore is already the talk of the town because of his exceptional performances for the Spurs youth team. The English winger has put himself on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe but Ben Jacobs believes the youngster wants to continue at Tottenham as it is the best place for his development.

While talking about the teenage sensation’s future to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said: “I think Mikey Moore still wants to stay at Spurs. He’s a highly-rated talent and still only 16 years of age, so we always need to be a little bit careful in how we report these things.

“We’re still talking about a young teenager, and it’s important that the hype is not overblown at this stage because there is never any guarantee with players until they turn 18 and have that first professional contract, or obviously end up as first-team players. But it is true to say that Mikey Moore is a top talent, and Tottenham’s expectation is that he will stay at the club.

“The family are very grounded, as is the player, and they’re flattered by links with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. PSG downplay any kind of concrete move at this stage, and Tottenham are still optimistic that he will stay at the football club because it’s the right place for his development.”

Moore has been doing wonders for both club and country at the youth level. Last season, he was involved in 14 matches for the Spurs youth team and he ended up contributing towards 25 goals (16 goals, 9 assists). His numbers for the England Under-17 team aren’t bad either as he has 10 goals in 12 appearances.

At just 16, he does seem to be the next big thing to come up the ranks at Tottenham and his performances surely haven’t gone unnoticed. He finds himself on the wishlist of European giants Real Madrid and PSG. While they surely have the financial strength to lure him away, Tottenham remain confident that he will continue at the club as it is the right place for his development.

Ange Postecoglou handed him his Tottenham debut towards the end of last season and he is expected to get more minutes in the upcoming campaign. Staying at the North London club might help him play regular first-team football sooner rather than later. As a result, it is quite understandable why Moore wants to continue at Spurs despite interest from the biggest clubs.
