‘As things stand’ Fabrizio Romano shares an update on Spurs’ links with Barça boy

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Barcelona winger Memphis Depay this summer.

The 28-year-old is surplus to requirements at the Spanish club and he is set to leave before the transfer window closes.

Fabrizio Romano has now responded to rumours linking the Dutch international with a move to Tottenham.

The transfer expert tweeted that the 28-year-old has had no contact with the Premier League club so far, despite the rumours circulating in the media.

Depay scored 13 goals across all competitions for the Spanish club last season and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Tottenham have already signed Richarlison from Everton earlier on in the summer and the Brazilian is expected to play a similar role to that of the Dutchman.

A move for the former Manchester United winger simply does not make sense for Tottenham right now and he is likely to struggle for regular game time at the London club.

Furthermore, the Dutch international had a nightmare spell with Manchester United in the past and a return to the Premier League might not be at the top of his priority list.
