Arsenal star thinks former Spurs ace is the second best player in the world

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has reportedly voted the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric as the second-best player in the world last year.

In the recently held FIFA’s The Best awards, the Arsenal midfielder voted the Croatian international as his choice for being the second-best in the world behind Lionel Messi. Xhaka voted Kylian Mbappe as the third-best player in the world last year.

There is no doubt that Modric is one of the best players in the world and he was exceptional for Real Madrid and Croatia last year. He helped the Spanish giants win the league title and the UEFA Champions League.

He also helped his country reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Modric was already one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Tottenham but he has improved significantly since joining Real Madrid. The Croatian is undoubtedly one of the best players of his generation and it is no surprise that the likes of Xhaka rate him so highly.

The highly experienced midfielder has won every trophy at the club level with Real Madrid over the past decade and he managed to guide his country to the World Cup finals as well. The Real Madrid midfielder has won the Balon d’Or as well.

The 37-year-old recently put on an outstanding display against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League proving that age is just a number for him.

Meanwhile, Xhaka is fighting for the Premier League title with Arsenal this season.
