Arsenal scupper prospective Spurs deal with a top European side

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The Spanish full-back was on loan at Atletico Madrid last year but he struggled to hold down a regular starting spot under Diego Simeone.

The defender has now returned to his parent club but he does not have a future at Tottenham either.

Spurs will be hoping to shift him permanently this summer but his hopes of joining Real Sociedad have now taken a blow.

Apparently, Arsenal have agreed on a deal with the Spanish club for the loan transfer of Kieran Tierney.

Sociedad are now unlikely to bring in another left-back and therefore Tottenham will have to find a new suitor for Reguilon.

The 26-year-old was highly rated during his time at Sevilla but he has not been able to adapt to the Premier League and things have not gone according to plan for him in recent months.

Reguilon will be looking to get his career back on track and it remains to be seen whether he can secure a permanent exit away from the north London club.

Tottenham already have a number of options in the left-back department and they will not be able to give the Spaniard ample game time this season.

It makes sense for both parties to cut their losses and part ways mutually.

There is no doubt that Reguilon has the ability to succeed at a high level and he needs to join a club where he will get regular game time and he needs a manager who will have faith in his abilities.
