Extraordinary times in which we live.
Tottenham have been linked endlessly with Wilfried Zaha over the years and thankfully never gone through with the sale.
Zaha is basically a coward, who got his fingers burned during his aborted move to Manchester United, and ever since has been far happier playing the role of a big fish in a small pond.
The Sun reports that the mighty Gunners have placed a MEGA embarrassing payment plan bid in for the now 26-year-old. £40million over a 5-year period.
Regular readers will be aware that the whole ‘Arsenal’ thing isn’t something that grinds my gears. However, it’s undeniably amusing to see how the mighty have fallen.
This is the sort of humiliating nonsense Levy has form for dragging us into.
More importantly, this attempt to lure Zaha stinks of not just limited funding but even more limited ambition.
27-year-old in November Zaha isn’t going to help win Arsenal silverware or guarantee them a top four finish. Zaha would be a making up the numbers signing and Unai Emery knows it.
And Arsenal fans know it.

I guesstimated £200m to stand still.
£130m to go!
There were attempts to hijack the big man which slowed things down over the last couple of days. We should do the same to Arsenal with Zaha. Now that would be the icing on the cake.
There’s a long brown skidmark down the Seven Sisters confirming how far the Arse have slid 🙂
So we have signed one player who is a replacement for the one we lost in January ( a deal probably financed by the money from selling CE) and another yoof who we have paid £10 million for and loaned back to the club we bought him from. By my calculations that still means we have done nothing to add depth to our wafer thin squad in fact if we lose CE we have in effect weakened the squad. Jury is still out for me on this window. Minimum requirement would be Sessignon as a full back, Los Celso and perhaps Dani Ceballos and we keep Toby.
I think immediate value is about right, will only rise if he does well. Not congratulating baldy on finally doing his job. Two to three quality additions still needed and sort out Tobes ffs.
Jean-Michael Aulas very carefully pronounced Ndombele’s name as ‘Ton-gee Dom-belee’. The President went on to confirm that Ndombele himself had informed him of the correct pronunciation
Its strangely familiar….. I can remember vaguely the time a Spurs shirt was held up by a new signing…..wonders never cease.
Right levy go get the next one on pochs list. Keep it moving. Get them in for the pre’s levy son. Lillywhitebright.
Great that he has finally arrived,we just hope he settles in quickly. However as others have pointed out he is a 6 month minimum late replacement for Dembele. This has effectively allowed us to stand still.
What Levy needs to do now is push on and secure the services of essential additions.A right back, standby left back, creative midfielder,a wide forward and a back up for Kane.
If Levy gets this done, and I doubt it will all be done in this window, then I will hold my hands up.But he has previous and I won’t hold my breath.
Yaaaaa!
Well done Levy…3 more please and sign Jan up….

I expected a 2 year late Dembele replacement and only signing in 3 windows would be taken by cult members as Levy’s wild sexual revolution and proof of his deification. All hail…….and it only dragged on for 3 weeks.
Are teams allowed to buy players from other clubs? Wow, this game will never cease to amaze me. In balding twats we trust.

What they are doing at the new lane today is great. It don’t matter what sport it is. I bet a lot of the under under 12s wish their dad or mum supported Tottenham. they don’t know about arsenal or spurs winning anything. They do know that daddy’s arsenal is making him sad while Tottenham daddy’s are poking fun at him.

Speaking of arse. Not really the headline your looking for when launching your new kit
Real photos of players holding cheap Nike spurs kits, what a carry on that was. After waiting 18 months I was getting very bored with all that. Good player will improve us.
Yids on the plot giving it to the gooners non stop?? times a changing man. Spurs vibes getting stronger and stronger. The gooners dem not even bothering to say ” yeah but what have you won though” anymore. This is gonna be great. Poch gonna show the world what he and THFC are all about. I’ll be so happy for him. He deserves it
Not a good thing, been in Leeds with work, and lots of Leeds fans in the office, not one of them sad to see we signed Clarke, most are more upset they loaned him back. Apparently he is decent, one for the future maybe, but realistically not going to make their first team more than a few times this season.
As for arse-anal I think we have to be careful as that could be us a little down the line what with the stadium debt and everything. £40m for Zaha in this current financial transfer climate is a joke and an insult to him and Palace. Have the gooners started employing Mr Bungle on the quiet part time to place their bids?
Zaha is a fantastic natural attacking player, born to take on man and beat them. I imaging any coach would love team up zaha eriksen and kane. Beautiful.
Stories starting to run that CE may wind down his contract. If he starts to do that, what would you do? Personally I would like to say I would bench him, but then you could always convince him that playing like a fool cost him real, so if he wants to leave to a top club on bumper pay, he needs a stellar season?
Do you understand what I’m sayin Blud? Are you listenin to me FAM?
It sounds like our man Levy would be a perfect for for Arsenal. Nobody does payment plans better than Daniel. Not that I give 2 shiny shits what Arsenal do but the dog on the street knows they need defenders not more flair players. I looks like we could be in for another entertaining season of Arsenal Fan TV.

I don’t know the dark lane or ever heard of it. I can assume what you mean.
For the sake of his career, at 28, I am not sure Arsenal are a better fit than Palace. I don’t see them doing a lot more than Palace for a few years yet, and Zaha probably doesn’t have them left in him.
Macguire to United for £70m?? If I were him I would be holding out for a team like City or Spurs – although we wont offer that to Leicester as United are desperate.
I used to have similar worries as to what ‘might happen’, but football these days is more about the here and now than way off in to the future. Of course, Poch will leave sometime, but I think we’re all forgetting that he’s changed the mentality at this club largely, convincing us that Arsenal don’t matter any more, the old fixations can fly out of the [transfer] window, and that what we do as a club is far more important than the actions of others. To read some of these opinions makes it feel like we finished 16th last year, and were knocked out of cups by Darlington, Crewe and Reykjavik reserves. Surely it’s not about individuals, who you may or may not rate individually, but the some of whole – which reached a European Champions League Final and robbed by a terrible decision within seconds?
Yep, Poch is the glue that holds it all together [in this small blip in time, at least]. What worries me more is Levy’s insistence on penny-pinching on deals, when Liverpool’s lead last year was to identify their two weakest positions and buy big, bold and, ultimately, successful. That old-style thinking was fine when climbing the ranks, but a new strategy is needed for today!
As for Zaha; impressive player but something of a loose cannon, who would’ve done a Ginola type job for us a while back. But not what you’d call a sold cog in a club trying to build an impressive team, and I emphasize TEAM, which is Poch’s paramount intention…
Re the red end of the Seven Sisters Road. We lived in their shadow for 2 decades of more, so how can anyone knock us for being anything less than elated at their recent demise, and our elevation? What makes me laugh the most is their total denial, and where I live, the almost stubborn refusal to talk football anymore, or accept what they have become. And remember, in their ‘invincible’ year, they finished FORTY FIVE points ahead of us, so that’s how far we have travelled, on smaller gates, on smaller income, and having played two seasons away from our home…
Zaha. For the sake of his career he should move on. For the sake of his mind he should stay where he is. Those who know the dark lane will know what I’m talking about.
What happens next will most likely be determined by who heads out of the door first from Eriksen, Toby and Trippier. At least Eriksen’s asking price now seems to be within the realms of reality which tells us he has pretty much burned his bridges. I think there is a chance we might see an improvement in the overall strength of the squad but am concerned about how quickly new pieces will fit together and a lack of experience in the middle of the park.
Arsenal sold their soul. Their demise is the slow symptom of that. THFC have had the same treatment……so the warning down the road was not heeded. The same will become of the club formerly known as THFC.
With a year left on his contract, it was ludicrous to think that any club would buy Eriksen for £130 mill. I suspect he will go to Real Madrid at a much reduced and credible price. I agree completely that we need to bed in new players quickly, which of course we never do due to Levy’s endless procrastination. This is why we generally start the season slowly. Has Levy finally learnt the errors of his ways? Answers on a postcard.
Apparently. Although this is a clause conceived before the idiotic decision to bring our PL transfer window up to the beginning on the season. I suspect therefore that Levy and Poch will want him gone sooner rather than later or to get him to agree a new deal. It would be stupid to allow us to get in a position where he walks for 25mil after we have any ability to sign a replacement. But then when Levy is at the wheel, anything is possible
I didn’t add it up, so here is my guess:
So to me, we need:
short term – 2 central mid (£60m Ndombele + £50m), 1 LB (£35-45m), 1 RB (£35-45m), 1 attacking mid (£60-80m) so rough estimate…£260m
Long term – Above plus 1 striker (£50m), 2 CB’s (£40m each) another central mid (£50m), another attacking mid (£70m), a keeper (£35m) and potentially another LB (£40m)… £260m + £325m = £585m
So honestly, I think we are talking a half a billion pound problem over the next 3 years.
I suspect if Toby goes anywhere, it would be abroad. There is some nonsense in the press that Roma want him, and we are attempting a swap deal for Zaniolo which I find hard to believe. I think it will be very interesting to see what Levy does now after N’dombele, but I am convinced that Eriksen is going.
Those are fair estimates 1882 and that’s frightening when you think that the last two windows were wasted.Levy will shit himself if he is made aware of that, because transfer fees are only going one way.
Am I right in saying Toby is available for 25M up until the last two weeks of the window?I think he wants to stay, but I see Utd. sniffing around from the middle of the month and offering the asking price as it’s a steal.
He plays for Lyon.
I doubt he will go to united, they too far away from a trophy – if this were true I would have expected a whole host of clubs (City, Liverpool, Barca, Real…) coming in for him.
I think at £40m I would take a punt on him, at the £80m Palace want for him, no chance, he is not a player worth more than £40m for me. I am not judgining palace for wanting more, not at all, but this stinks of a farce, like you say, the type Levy usually does to “try” to sign players so he can say he tried.
See they are being offered Fekir for £30m, you have to ask what went so wrong in his Liverpool medical for them to drop out of a £65m purchase and Monaco struggle to get £30m for him now?
For 1882 below.
I know,I’ve been offline for the last 5 days so this is a catch up and I was starting at the bottom and working up.Just seen Marbella’s comment.Cheers.
Marbella Spur July 2, 2019 at 11:43 am
Sorry, was torn between the two – silly me.
I struggle to laugh at Arsenal when you look at what they have won since Levy has been in charge.
Fekir plays for Lyon!
‘Tanned Guy’
N’Dombele – he may be Tangy but he’s leaving a bitter aftertaste in the Gooners mouths today.? If Zaha is their number one target then they’ve slipped down the food chain.
Expectations have been managed big time here.
Of course signing a good central midfielder was of paramount importance with Dembele gone. Of course we are happy about that too, but this signing is the bare MINIMUM of what we need, just to consolidate.
Jack Clarke, great, see you in 12 months when you might be on the Spurs bench etc.
I’m not excited yet, yes happy that Domby looks like the kind of quality we need. However, we haven’t signed anyone for over a year, I’m supposed to get excited?
Let’s see how we go from here, by my reckoning we need 3-4 more QUALITY players…
Woolwich certainly have ground my gears. A large amount of their fans have been arrogantly dismissive about Spurs and now it bites them on the arse.
Remember pissed up, pot bellied cokehead Jack Wilshite singing songs about Spurs being ‘shit’? Remember the bum fluffed avenger Theo Wallcock gesturing to our support from a stretcher?
Andy Linighan anti semitically abusing a black cab driver. A drunken Tony Adams driving his motor into some old lady’s front garden, Merson the coke head mentor to Wiltshite.
Wenger gave then direction for over half his time there, otherwise they’re classless pikeys with fans called Tarquin who don’t know any better…
We now have our replacement for the Moose. However i was thinking that perhaps that was the role that Wanyama was going to assume as Dembele was managed through the season. He’s now crocked to the point where I fear he has nothing more to offer the team.
We have stood still if you discount the schoolboy being sent straight back to Leeds.
A few windows are gonna open in the 2020s where we won’t need to sign any first teams players. Poch you need anyone? No levy man its kool. You sure? Yes. You sure sure? Yeah man. Actually levy there is something you could do for us. What’s that then? Chuck the ladies couple million.
” there’s a long brown smirk down the seven sisters road comfirming how far the arse has slid” PP?????? you’re killing me man.

Marbella Spur July 2, 2019 at 11:54 am
I agree, yes Ndombele signing (if he finally does) is great, it is £65m to keep us where we were this time last year. Look at our team:
GK – Lloris fading, Gazzinga ok – so keeper ok, but needs looking at next year
CB – Toby and Jan are on last season of contract, Foyth not ready yet, Sanchez is good, Dier is well… CCV and the youth not good enough – so CB MAY be ok this season but dire straights next year
RB – Trip and Aurier both good cover but not good enough starters (RB needed)
LB – Rose on form is good, but rarely happens, Davies too slow to play wing back (LB needs cover)
Central mid – Dier (shit), Winks (good), Wanyama (crocked), Sissoko (Jury out thanks to last year, shit for 2 seasons before), Onomah (is he still a spurs player?) – plus youth…(lets face it, at least 2 players needed here)
Attacking mid – Eriksen (leaving) Alli (poor) – desperate need to cover here.
Forward – Kane, Son, moura…(up front is actually capable for a year)
So to me, we need:
short term – 2 central mid, 1 LB, 1 RB, 1 attacking mid
Long term – Above plus 1 striker, 2 CB’s another central mid, another attacking mid, a keeper and potentially another LB…
So sorry if Ndombele feels likes a band aid over a broken leg.
Coogy July 2, 2019 at 11:34 am
Will take less than that – Poch will go eventually, but my worry is the players are likely to want to leave next season or one after at the latest (kane will be 28), some of our best players will want to see not just the money but the trophies. I am sure its not lost on people like Kane that Sturridge has been paid more and got more medals than him.
I’m not big on Arsenal so I do find this very satisfying, however I can’t bring myself to gloat to any of the many Arsenal supporting people that I know because I can see us being back in their position very rapidly. All it will take it a fallout between Levy and Poch over a lack of investment (I know we are set to break our transfer fee but one signing is not enough), Poch walks, players who signed because of him want out, others flee a sinking ship, Levy brings in a cut price and average manager and we are back where we were six years ago.
It’s really nice whilst it lasts though!
Firstly, ‘a coward’? For what – playing in a team where he actually enjoys going to work every day? What bollocks. He tried it at Utd & it didn’t work out – he’s not the first or last to try. We’ve had dozens on players in the same situation over the years – Vinny is the latest who’ll go back to familiar surroundings but you won’t label him a coward.
Secondly, forget about that mob down the road & don’t tell me that you believe what you read in The Sun? I’ve no doubt you’ve been on here criticizing them over the years for printing made up stories & this is just another one of them.
Concentrate on Tottenham & forget about unsubstantiated stories.
N’dombele is a like for like replacement for Dembele, ( can’t we go back to the days of Smith and Jones!). It is what Levy does after this signing that shows intent. We all know where we need strengthening, and it requires substantial investment. Unless that happens, both Poch and the likes of Kane will walk. Sell Deli Alli for $100 mill for starters.
What a peculiar thing for a Spurs fan to get the hump over below….
ENIC are not THFC. we were THFC long before them and will be THFC long after them. They are just chapters. moments.
Sky sports again. How many times will they announce this plank has signed for ENIC fc?? Another report says he’s arriving for a medical!?…..ffs.

Still not believing until on the BBC with Poch and Ndombele in a spurs shirt.
CE’s situation is a little different from Modders and Bale inasmuch as both of those had stellar seasons before they left and so were in big demand. Whereas Eriksen basically didn’t, in fact he probably ruined his own chances last season with his erratic displays and couldn’t care less attitude a lot of the time. If RM have been watching him for a couple of seasons they might think he could be worth a punt, but if they only started watching him last season then they probably won’t be interested as on that form he’d be a squad player at best and they don’t go for mega millions. I wonder who is more annoyed CE or Levy?
Goons shopping at Primark on tick. Spurs dashing in and out of Fortnum and Mason’s… Nurse! My stitches have come out again…
I don’t understand why you think LB and RB are more important than striker cover? We already have copious WB’s and neither position looks pitifully exposed at the moment. Against that think back to last season when Kane was injured so much and Son was off too. We were basically screwed. Besides Son is not a no.9. With Llorente being released I think that is FAR more critical right now. You can’t play in 4 comps to include Europe with just one proper striker on the books. The more Kane is hammered the more likely his injury will return. He’s got it in the first place through being grossly overplayed. If Poch is happy with alternatives then why is he played all the time?
He’s here! Its finally done! Now how do I pronounce his name?

United are not low balling, more the other way. They are over bidding on everyone.
It seems the only 3 clubs linked with players at the moment are all lowballing bids. That’s us,the arse and Utd.It seems all bids for anyone are pitched at half the asking price. No wonder nothing is happening.
It’s ironic that us and the arse are running in parallel.Owners who won’t using their own money, must sell before buying {self financing} and basically taking the piss with their offers. It’s fucking embarrassing to be us.And we’re supposed to be a super club according to Levy.
depends who leaves in the summer (CE for example) but Kane is out, we have Alli in the pocket behind Son and Moura, or Son with Winks and Alli behind… our full backs are ok, but not wing backs. So we have to play to suit them or change them. Up top we have rotation, as you say, Son was away.
I am not saying we don’t need striker cover, but I just think we need wing backs more.
I agree with that, we’ll wait and see. A leopard doesn’t change its spots and a Levy doesn’t change its black leather gloves…
Years of arrogance, melting away in Holloway!
