Home » Are Liverpool Juicing?

A number of non-mainstream media sites such as Barstool Sports are asking if there’s an asthma epidemic at Liverpool Football Club.

The suggestion has been made that Over 60% of the LFC squad have been diagnosed and prescribed medications to treat the condition.

It’s stated that the national average for the UK is at around 12%, whereas at Melwood, based upon the claims made, 22 players out of 35 mean their rate is 5 times the national average.

Sportspersons treating this and similar conditions have been in the public domain before. Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, and Paula Radcliffe have all had their medical conditions placed in the public domain.

They’ll be calling it the Klopp Cough.

Did you see his pre match interview? He was going on about what strong characters his players are, togetherness and how they ‘woz robbed’ at Spurs. He only saw players determined to put it behind them and win at Newcastle. Togetherness, when one of their players basically slags off all his team mates in his post match tunnel interview!

I’m not sure the guy is in even touch with reality…

He ‘should’ have won the League? On what basis? We had a small first team squad that cost less than Leicester’s to assemble and we were also playing in Europe and they were not which obviously meant we were stretched even further. The reason why we didn’t win it that season, was because Baldy hadn’t strengthened us enough in the summer and also did nothing in the January either when we were close to the top. We need facts here, not the constant rewriting of history…

Perhaps you weren’t paying attention during Hitchen’s short time at the club? He moved on precisely because he couldn’t put in place the transfer policy he wanted. He has since alluded to this more recently, despite the ‘non disclosure’ or gagging order Levy slaps on all former employees. Jose has just managed to slip in a crafty dig, with his; “Mr Levy is unique in football”. The excuses and passing of blame to others, one in particular in your case only serves to back the insidious regime that run the club…

Botch should have won the league he made far too many mistakes repeatedly before and after that.. Maureen I’m still scratching my head.. After Nuno and the fanbase finally turning, I’m sure Levy has the brains not to mess this one up.

In many ways I’m glad we didn’t. If Botch and Hitch had spent on more record club signings then we would be in an even worse state with more Ndombeles and LoCelsos to get rid of… We are in a different scenario now with the stadium pulling high revenue releasing more funds for players and wages.. And instead of Botch and Hitchen building, we now have Conte and Paratici.. Night and day. Chalk and cheese. Losers and winners.

The chap in Obidos is a Benfica fan and he has me in stitches. Last time I saw him, five years ago, his opening remark to me was “The president of Sporting Lisbon is a psychopath.” Apparently, this chap was trolling on the internet one minute and the next minute he had become the president at Sporting Lisbon though I gather his business had gone under. Anyway, he had been on television about six times in a fortnight making complaints about Benfica.

Incidentally, as some of you on here may know, Sporting Lisbon’s actual name is Sporting Club de Portugal (Lisbon has presumably been used to identify where they come from) and Benfica is actually Sport e Lisboa Benfica.

That’s very kind of you. I don’t know where I’ve been really! Quite often, though, I don’t comment because someone has already expressed my views for me! Also, most of us, who haven’t got antiques for brains, know what the real problem is at Spurs and you can get tired repeating it over and over.

I do share your pessimism regarding the Levy and ENIC situation and it’s so frustrating that we can’t get shot of them somehow. It’s also remarkable what an easy ride Danny Boy gets, though someone on the radio yesterday said Spurs have got to decide whether it’s a stadium that houses a genuine football club or whether it’s an events arena.Sadly, I think we know the answer to that one!

I have to say I think Conte – under the circumstances under which our managers at Spurs have to operate and the stale squad he inherited – has done some job if, as now seems likely, (keeping fingers crossed etc) he steers us into the CL.

Strange season. Chelsea whups us 4 times and somehow we may finish ahead of them (we won’t). We take 8 points from 12 against maybe the 2 best teams in the world, and we can’t get out of the group stage in the Conference League losing to NS Mura, currently ranked #628 in the world.

Anything can happen Sunday.

I remember a friend of mine telling me about 20 years ago that if they did some random drug testing they’d find loads of players guilty of taking illegal substances. And a chap in Obidos in Portugal told me that it was suspected that Porto’s players were taking illegal substances at one stage; nearly all their players were bald, apparently, and one of their players having a healthy mane of hair (I think he was their centre half and top scorer (!) the one season because he was the regular penalty taker and they got quite a few spot kicks) and looking around the changing room at his colleagues and worried he was going to lose HIS hair asked for a transfer! Liverpool do seem to have astonishing reserves of stamina.

And yet the funny thing is that our lot, so abysmal on occasions, are now poised to finish fourth in the world’s toughest league and, given our goal difference, probably deservedly so.

Not likely to pull up any trees in the CL, however; Arsenal will have a better chance in the Europa but we might later join them!. Generally speaking, ironically the team finishing 5th has of course a much better chance of winning a pot in Europe the following season than the club that achieves the much preferred 4th place. This is the problem I have with the Europa League and its perceived status in some quarters. It’s really a plate competition for also rans.

Different circumstances, though. We were deflated at having lost the league.
By the way, I do realize we only need to draw, despite what my previous entry might suggest. I think that’s important because if we were to go 1-0 down, we’re not immediately faced with having to get two goals.

Mind you, we’ve lost at Burnley and Middlesbrough this year! So defeat against Norwich IS therefore possible but I think unlikely in the circumstances. There’s already been a joke about the possibility of sending a lasagne to Carrow Road!

Arsenal fans on the radio resigned to our winning at Norwich: Yes, they’ll definitely win etc, etc. We’re set up for perhaps the Spursiest moment of them all. Everyone assuming we’ll win is worrying, though I think we will.

They are usually dosed to just below permissable limits of substances which are generally the highest levels of what is deemed within a “naturally occurring” range.
You’ll no doubt be familiar then with most test failures being explained away by inadvertant use of nasal sprays, hot lemon drink powders, cough syrups, etc which tip athletes over the test limits.

Unless Cheatski now decline enough to take them out of the equation, top four will be even harder to get because eventually Barcodes will be at Citeh and Liverpool’s present level, just a matter of time.

Strange though the timing of the expanded Champions League, it’s as if the more wealth that comes into the top flight, the more they’re expanding it to get those clubs guaranteed involvement. Might as well have a Super League, they’re just ring fencing the wealth and sharing out the cake between themselves…

Harry Redknapp said a little while ago that “Daniel doesn’t do emotions”. As long as it could be spun in a way that would take just enough heat off Levy, he wouldn’t really worry about losing Conte. Levy sees all managers as ultimately dispensable and for him, the financial bottom line is the ONLY thing he is ever guided by.

I don’t believe Conte would tolerate getting Rodon instead of Skriniar – at least I hope not.

Everything is absolutely clear now – we might just sneak CL while largely playing one game a week, but any more games and we’re done for. The squad needs some serious padding (preferably not by getting in 10M Ligue 1 punts).

We know that, Conte knows that, and Levy probably does too – but will he do anything about it? I remain to be convinced.

A real club would arrange for the transfers now and once the window opens, it would just conclude the deals officially. Were City stopped from signing Haaland by the fact the window was not opened yet?

Then again, they don’t need to sell to buy… 🤡🤡🤡

A lad who grew up a few doors away from me was caught in a high profile newspaper expose offering performance enhancing treatment a few years ago. He claimed to have 150+ elite athletes on his books including the squads of Chelsea, Arsenal and the then recently crowned champions, Leicester.
Despite ledgers allegedly containing detailed albeit coded records, absolutely nothing happened in terms of follow ups and investigations from anti doping agencies and governing bodies.
I seriously doubt anything will come out of the handful of queries about asthma diagnosis rates on Merseyside.

Levy’s biggest challenge is selling the amount of players he has to…but when you look at our bench, especially the last few games, its been like an early round of the Europa, academy and fringe players…I would try and keep Stevey and even Moura for now…new back up keeper, a very good mid, centre back and at least one new wing back….

Trouble is Levy always controls the purse strings, so no matter what Paratici can find and agree with the player and the other club, Levy can pull the plug financially. This will always be our big problem. For example a Skriniar can turn into a Rodon because Levy simply won’t spend the money, always preferring to go for the cheaper player regardless of the risk.

Can he step outside himself and let Paratici and Conte take care of things in the summer?

Or will it be “the fans have no comprehension…”, as City sign Haaland and other clubs complete multi-million pound signings with relatively little fuss, while we’re left looking at photos of Ndombele turning up at Hotspur Way for pre-season?

Some cyclists use it in small doses, but it gives them no gains whatsoever.. To gain anything they would need to take SIXTEEN puffs on an inhaler in one go… This is way over the limit allowed by WADA… This would give tiny gains with negative side effects like increased heart rate and blood pressure…. There are far more effective ways of cheating with drugs that athletes and footballers do actually take, get tested and banned for…. Like Jaap Stam and Pep Guardiola and Edgar Davids all tested positive for deca nandralone, and rightly banned. Now thats anabolic steroids that they all injected themselves with. That is cheating. It made them stronger, faster and made muscle recovery time non existent.

Liverpool are obsessed with marginal gains to get an advantage, remember the throw in coach, the neuroscience helping with penalty taking.

All perfectly legal but if they are using therapeutic use exemptions to treat perfectly healthy young men in the prime of life then it would be worth an investigation by the FA..

Remember Liverpool’s style of football is based on non stop pressing, all game, every game, that takes some lung capacity.

Don’t think we have heard the last of this.

This is definitely another conspiracy theory. Salbutamol is an asthma inhaler that does improve strength and speed in healthy users. But this drug was banned across the world in all sports by the world doping organisation… All footballers are randomly drug tested. If the Scouse were cheating and failing tests then players would be getting banned, which isn’t happening… Up the Barcodes today then. 1-1 Trippier to score a free kick. Fog on the Tyne is all mine.
