Archie Gray has revealed how Ange Postecoglou was a major reason behind his move to Tottenham.
The Leeds United sensation was closing in on a move to Brentford. However, talks between the two parties stalled and that allowed Tottenham to hijack the deal and secure the services of Gray.
The North London club have officially announced his signing and during his first interview with the club, the teenager revealed that Ange Postecoglou was a ‘massive factor’ behind him choosing to join Spurs.
Gray said via Tottenham’s official website: “Another thing is it’s a massive project under Ange and it’s something that I wanted to be a part of. I’m not going to lie, I’m a massive Celtic fan so I love him! My whole family loves him and I haven’t really said this to be fair but I loved watching him at Celtic and I loved watching him here last season – he’s a massive factor because playing under a really good manager is really important for me.”
Gray came up the ranks at Leeds United and he was promoted to their first team last summer. In his debut season with their first team, the teenager was involved in over 50 matches. While he prefers playing in the centre of the park, the majority of his appearances came as a right-back.
His ability to feature in different positions and his huge potential is why multiple top clubs were keen on his signature. Spurs have managed to beat the competition with the player signing a six-year long deal with the North London club. Gray has revealed that Ange Postecoglou is a major reason why he chose Tottenham.
The 18-year-old is a big fan of Celtic fan and given what Postecoglou has done at the Scottish club, he is a big admirer of the Australian manager and wants to work under him.
Having seen Postecoglou deliver at Celtic and Spurs, Gray feels he could develop under the Australian’s guidance. Tottenham have an exciting project and the Leeds academy graduate was keen on being a part of it.
