Antonio Conte’s £20 million decision is proving to be a blessing for Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to find a reliable full back combination in recent years.

Previous manager Antonio Conte tried different combinations but he could not work out a reliable partnership for the full back department.

However, the Italian manager went on to sign Porro and Destiny Udogie during his time at the club.

While he had Porro under his wings for a very short period, Udogie was signed from Italian club Udinese last summer and he was immediately loaned back to the Italian club so that he can continue his development with regular first team football.

The 20-year-old defender impressed in the Italian league last season scoring 3 goals and picking up 4 assists along with his defensive responsibilities.

Udogie has now returned to his parent club and he has been handed a regular starting spot by the new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The 20-year-old has been exceptional for Tottenham so far and his performances have been very impressive.

After struggling to find a quality left back over the last couple of seasons, Tottenham seem to have unearthed a gem in the 20-year-old and he will look to establish himself as one of the best full backs in the league.

Apart from his defensive quality, the 20-year-old has looked quite efficient going forward and it is fair to suggest that Ange Postecoglou has really benefited from Conte’s decision to sign the player.

The 20-year-old is still quite young and he is only going to get better with experience and coaching.

It remains to be seen whether the Australian manager can help him develop into a quality player and fulfill his potential.

Tottenham paid £20 million to sign the talented young defender from Udinese and the transfer is already looking like a major bargain.
