Antonio Conte urges Tanguy Ndombele to “change” supporters minds about him after FA Cup performance

Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele had a forgetful night in Spurs’ 3-1 FA Cup victory over Morecambe, a team that competes in League One, the third tier of the English football league system.

Ndombele played 69 minutes for Tottenham, winning two of seven ground duels, and didn’t generate much in the midfield. The north London club didn’t score until after manager Antonio Conte subbed him off the pitch as they scored three late goals for the win.

Following the match, Conte spoke at his news conference. The Guardian relayed his remarks, stating that it would be up to the France international to change opinions about himself to the supporters.

However, the Italian tactician didn’t dive into much details regarding the midfielder as he wanted to defuse the situation.

“This type of situation, they are in football,” Conte said. “You have to be good to change the opinions. I was a player, and it happened sometimes to me that someone was unhappy with my performance.

“This is our life. It’s OK. We have to continue to work and try to be better next time. We have to know very well that if we perform well, the fans are happy. If you don’t perform well, the fans are not happy.”

The midfielder seeing the Tottenham squad look good until after Ndombele left the pitch wasn’t a good look for the 25-year-old, who’s already the subject of various rumors as a possible candidate to depart this January transfer window.
